Double chocolate....*gleefully snags one and nibbles at it* The one time of year I don't feel bad eating these things.

I don't really worry about it ever. *chuckles, nomming a peanut butter cookie* So how's life been for you, Doctor Scully?

Quiet and busy. Keeping the men in my life occupied and out of trouble, which is amazingly harder than it sounds. How are things settling in for you?

Not bad, actually. I've met a few of the people around here- including a neurologist and an EMT in addition to Doctor Petrelli across the hall from me. They're all fairly welcoming.

A neurologist...I'm guessing that's Dr. Gray? I know he's close to Dr. Petrelli. I don't know Dr. Petrelli, but Dr. Gray works on my team. He's an amazingly gifted doctor.

*nods* Dr. Gray, yeah. I don't know anything about his skills as a doctor, but he sounds like an incredibly intelligent man. He and Dr. Petrelli surprised me with their, ah, comfort around each other. *chuckle*

*shrugs* You can't blame your heart, I know I can't cast a stone where that is concerned. And by far I think he has the most normal romance of some of the people I know.

No, I'm not judging or anything. I mean, it's not up to me who everyone should be with. Just surprised me, is all. I wasn't expecting for Dr. Gray to kiss Dr. Petrelli while I was in there, y'know?

*stops munching briefly and raises an eyebrow* Well, I won't say it's particularly professional at the hospital, I suppose they are both comfortable enough with it to not care particularly who is there to see it. I can't say I've seen the two of them together outside of Mercy Heights.

I've never seen either of them outside the hospital, much less together. *shakes her head* It's amazing. I've lived in this city since I was seventeen, and I still get completely thrown for a loop sometimes.

Really? What was it like growing up here? New York still seems just...giant and insane, and I lived in DC for years.

I grew up in the south. Becoming an adult here, though...that was a bit insane, yeah.

Did you go to school here? *eyes the cookie selection for the next victim*

Yeah. Got my degree at NYU, interned at the VA hospital, and wound up here.

*settles on an oatmeal cookie* The VA hospital, that would be a difficult place to intern for psychiatry. It was one of the few areas my partner did feel he could ever go into, working with those who had seen what those men had. Which is saying a lot for him, he was a criminal profiler.

*small smile* It was tough, yeah, but I managed. I just want to help, and frankly, between veterans and my own experience with hospital psychiatrists I found this, and it's been my goal and my reason ever since.

*nods in understanding* I get that, I do. I'm glad you have a purpose and a drive to help others out of your own experience. There's a need for those with your compassion in our field.

*smile spreads* Thank you. I appreciate that, Doctor.

No, thank you for cookies! For once I get to enjoy ones I don't bake.

I don't bake, so we're lucky there's a bakery near here. *grins*

Having that knowledge is dangerous indeed, especially on lunch breaks. Cookies are a food group, right?

I think they count, yes.
