[Cold or not, some guy in a wet-suit and scuba gear just emerged from the ocean looking mildly perplexed. Then again, 'mildly perplexed' is often Will's default setting so this isn't as unusual as it may seem at first glance.]
*Busy with working with her co-worker and friend, Natalia, Calleigh glances up briefly from her camera but pays little attention to him. After all, guys diving in wet suits wasn't that usual even if it was freezing.*
[Muttering to himself in mild irritation and wanting nothing more than a hot shower and strong cup of coffee, Will freezes when he sees what appears to be a crime scene being investigated. Drifting closer, he tries to look casual as he studies the scene and investigators.]
*Calleigh freezes mid-snap, feeling eyes on her -eyes a tad more interested than the regular gawkers- and turned around. Immediately she was drawn to the guy in the wet suit.* Your first time seeing a murder victim?
*To a blind eye, it looked like the young man had just frozen to death, but the ME had already detected possible signs of posion.*
*Calleigh extends a hand, stopping him before he could move past the tape, just who the heck was this guy?* Good to for you, I'm sure it's not their's either, but I can't let you past the tape -crime scene?
Sorry. I lose anything resembling tact when I'm freezing my arse off. [And, yes, he says arse with an English accent despite clearly being an American through and through.] Will Zimmerman, formerly of the FBI. I still consult with local cops on occasion...
I'm sure that happens to a lot of people, Mr. Zimmerman. *Gives him a tight smile.* But all the same, without some ID, I can't let you through my boss would have my hide.
*She wasn't doing it out of spite, just being careful and following procedure...people could claim anything.*
[Will's respect for the local cop just went up a notch; unzipping his wetsuit, he pulls out a waterproof pouch and starts digging through its contents. Small first aid kit, passport even though he's in the US, medical license, driver's license, etc. If she's observant, she'll notice that his pass-port's well used and that his driver's license has a restriction on it that he can't drive without glasses or contacts. He's also an organ donor.
After a moment, he pulls out a handful of consultant badges for various jurisdictions and starts leafing through them. Not all are in English.]
*The southern ballistics expert nods, an amused look filling her emerald gaze as he pulled out the pouch. 'Not exactly the norm for a diver,' she notes. Easily spotting the worn passport and medical license...the smaller details however, such as name, address and his organ donor status she doesn't pick up until she starts looking them over.*
You seem like quite the traveler, Will. *She pins some hair behind her ear.* Can't find a jurisdiction you like?
I go where my boss sends me, but I always end up in the Pacific Northwest at the end of the day.
[He shrugs, a fond smile touching his features as he thinks of home and the people there. Especially his boss, but that's neither here nor there at the moment.]
Mostly I'm just too curious to stop the whole consulting gig and people sometimes like a second opinion from a guy who thinks outside the box.
Yes they do, *Seeing a few names she recognizes Calleigh finally concedes this guy is legit and slowly hands the items back.* Alright, you've convinced me, I even know some of the people you've worked with...gloves and booties on though. *She grabs a pair from one of the waiting cadets and hands them to him.*
Thanks. Wouldn't want to confuse your lab guys by getting ocean sediment all over their scene.
[Pulling them on, he heads over to the body, bending and eying it thoughtfully before looking around to take in the larger scene, one element at a time.]
He fell there first, crawled a few steps, got up, walked... fell again, and was still. [That's all muttered to himself, just cementing it in his head before he really gets down to business. When he speaks again, it's to her.] Do we have a time of death? What's his temperature?
