Hero, Ha! Try villain in remission.

I think it's a matter of perspective. I mean, who is really the villain and who is really the hero? I'm sure the villains think they're doing right, just as the heroes think that they are, right?

I don't think you're quire right.

*pauses and seems to be considering before moving to Severus and wrapping him in a hug* The world isn't black and white. You're a shade of gray and maybe you're not good, maybe you're not the hero. But you're my mentor and I believe that you have mostly good intentions.

You're not bad. I promise.

*didn't expect him to return the embrace but is grateful as it doesn't make him feel like an idiot*

You're welcome. Just...stay the course you choose. I'm proud to be named after you because even if you aren't the hero...You're capable of it. We all are, aren't we? Of being heroes and villains.

*will just be over here, not flailing at all, really*

I'd call you a hero, Severus. Even heroes, hell, maybe ESPECIALLY heroes, make mistakes... bad decisions. At least you did your best to make up for them.

*smiles back, gently* I am not a saint. I'm a realist. Do you know how long I've had to think about all of these things. I hear all of the stories, and I hear them from both sides. You are very much a hero in my eyes, and nothing you say can change that.

[identity profile] semi-auto-magic.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder if a hero who makes bad choices is any better ...

[identity profile] semi-auto-magic.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Hero and Villain ... Generic labels based on how people perceive you.

Were all people and we make decisions both good and bad.

[identity profile] semi-auto-magic.livejournal.com 2007-08-05 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Its a pretty easy revelation to come to when people think of you in both lights. I've noticed that which one I am depends largely on who you ask.

The problem with choices (to betray or not to betray in this case) is that you have to live with yourself afterwards.

And the road to hell they say is paved with good intentions.

I don't think a hero is someone who never does the wrong thing. If that was true then there wouldn't be any heroes at all.

I think a hero is someone who can make maybe do the wrong thing and not just feel bad about it but go out and try and make things right.

You are very hard on yourself.

[identity profile] lily-kin.livejournal.com 2007-08-05 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
You shouldn't be so hard on yourself.

But if you try and change it, if you try and make things right then you do feel bad about it even if you can't admit it to yourself.

I think being a Ravenclaw would be great! James has Gryffindor and Al has Slytherin and I could make Ravenclaw my own. Either that or Hufflepuff.

I hope you listen to me even though I'm young. Young doesn't mean dumb. You should be better to yourself. You're not a vilian in remission you're a hero in disguise.

Wouldn't that make you more along the lines of an anti-hero?

[identity profile] thestraychild.livejournal.com 2007-08-05 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
True. But I suppose that depends entirely on your perspective.

Perhaps you're just one of those highly unconventional heroes.

[identity profile] thestraychild.livejournal.com 2007-08-05 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
There are worse things than being unconventional.

Predictability makes life boring, after all.
