[ He peers into his glass of scotch for a moment before sighing to himself, it's a little disheartening, really. The music is uptempo enough, at least, and the rest of the boys on leave seem to be enjoying themselves. He casts a casual glance over, ] Careful he doesn't fill your drink with ice.
[Fresh from the bathroom, Raven pushes through the mess of people and tables, skirting the dance floor, to get back over to Charles. The music makes her feet itch to dance, but she's not entirely sure how her brother would feel about the whole... swing thing.]
Hey. Sorry, there was a freakishly long line for the restroom! I can't believe how many people are here tonight, can you?
Kind of. [ He glances out toward the dancers again, around to the bar, listening to the buzz of chatter before turning his attention back to Raven. ] I mean, everyone just got home and settled; they probably wanna enjoy what free time they have, bars are social like that.
[ A half-smile ghosts his lips as blues turn back toward Raven. ] We're here too, so that counts for something.
[Charm was part and parcel of the Bucky Barnes package and he was taking advantage of it. Moving with an easy grace, dancing with not one but two girls with a bright smile and a laugh. Nodding at something one said, he guided the pair to a table and, after a quick stolen kiss and a wink, made his way to the bar.]
Two pink ladies and a whiskey sour.
[Giving the bartender a nod before looking around, a nod given to the man beside him.]
[ He was impressed, admittedly, because honestly in this day an age most girls were not interested in listening to Charles and any talk of genetics. He takes a moment to sip from the pseudo-tumbler (really, it was just a glorified glass). ]
Two dates? [ Really, he should probably mind his own business; but it was as much a complement as it was a curiosity. ]
[Peggy had come to the bar for a drink, not dancing. She needed a nightcap before reporting to Colonel Phillips bright and early tomorrow.] I'll take a brandy stinger, please. [She was still in her uniform and she was caring a clipboard and a pencil with her. Despite needing that nightcap, there was still work to be done before she went to bed.]
[ Charles, being as suave as he is (or isn't, depending on who you ask), can't really resist sliding the extra bit down the bar and offering a smile. Seemed like a good start, trying to resist babbling about genetics because that's not worked out too well so far. ]
[ He's impressed, really, terribly amused but impressed. A hand pushed up against the back of his mouth as he tries not to laugh. Not sure if he should wander out and stop him or continue to watch. He feels a little guilty and inches forward toward the crowd to better assess. ]
[There's a ruckus at one table, as Zinda Blake- known more commonly known as Lady Blackhawk- slams down a sixth shot of whiskey, as her opponent in the drinking contest slumps down in his seat... and then off his seat. She stands, and gives the man a hand up.] Don't let it get ya down, soldier. Blackhawk himself has trouble keepin' up with me sometimes, [she says with a wink, then saunters to the bar to cover the poor guy's tab]
:D! Though I might be nodding off soon, just an fyi ♥
[ That was... impressive, to say the least. Charles does enjoy his scotch, and his drinking given the opportunity, but he can clearly see he'd be outmatched in this arena-- just like the poor fellow who seemed to have the constitution of pudding at the moment. He turns his head to the side, because hey-- she's pretty and he's still a man, before he offers a half-cocked smile. ]
[Dancing, you say? Baby has worn out her second partner of the night, coming up for air at the bar after a particularly enthusiastic turn. Ordering a Roy Rogers, she sways lightly with the music, her pin curls bouncing.]
[ There was something different about her, he wasn't sure what-- besides the fact she was very pretty (which was clearly obvious to him as he wasn't the only one looking). Still, Charles was a friendly chap if nothing else and sidled up to her at the bar. ] You're one hell'va dancer, you know that?
*He's already got his drink in hand, he just happens to spot a familiar face in the crowd and makes his way over, leaning back against the bar to look out over the dancers with amusement.*
This new thing from America has taken like wildfire, especially now that the soldiers are home. What leaves you stranded at the bar rather than out there with the rest of them?
Well, fancy meeting you here. [ Erik walks towards the empty barstool beside him, attention dragged away from the loud rhythm of the swing jazz. He's got his tuxedo jacket slung over his shoulder-- a vastly different look on him than the black SS uniform of two years ago. ]
[ He can feel his heart leap up into his throat, head pulled to the side quickly and suddenly glad the bar was there to lean on. For a moment he just stared, looking akin to a confused rabbit before he let out a breath and tried to find his words once more, but all he managed was, ]
