She's... lost, I suppose. Somebody took her. We're not even all that sure whether or not she's alive.

Well, I'm not so impolite.

Far from it. I'm better. It would all be very well if we could ask the ones who took her, but they're all dead. Or as near to dead as it's possible to come for them, anyway. I doubt they'd be very inclined to help us anyway.

So she was taken and then the people who took her were killed? Where are you going to go from there? I am now picturing you in a fedora.

Asking around, searching likely places... really, the ones who took her were good at one they did, so she could be anywhere. A body might be just as likely as an actual girl.

I'm not really a hat person. Dreadlocks don't look very good with fedoras, especially.

Well, nobody expected it to be easy. What's left of her might be in little pieces all over the Below, but I'm hoping we won't have to deal with that. Or at least, once we find a few, the lady in question who's looking will be satisfied enough to call it quits.

[He indicates his own battered old black coat, which might in fact be a trench coat. Or a frock coat, or some sort of army jacket. Hard to tell; there's leather and velvet and lace and possibly some other sort of animal skin, and - whatever the garment is, exactly - it certainly looks like it's custom made]

Out of necessity. The rest of her family is dead, except for her sister. As I said, she might be dead too, and the possibility of her being alive was only mentioned to put off my friend. [Shrugs] It's rather a long story.

It sounds like a pretty long story indeed. I still hope that she's alive, and I don't get why people took her because she was the only one around.
