*Salem got there as fast as he could, fingers tapping on the pole of the subway train willing it to go faster. Once off of it, he bolted out and up the stairs onto the street taking off in the direction of the address Arthur had given him. He hoped the other was okay.
He bumped into a few not pleased people on his way, but just kept going. As he was getting there, the sun had set throwing the streets into darkness aside from the street lamps and the glow of the neon signs that littered the place. Slightly out of breath he glanced around once he found himself in the right spot. Where was he?*
"Arthur???" *His concerned voice cut through the shadows.*
*Vic had put the flask and gun back where they belonged. He waited for Salem to get close enough to touch before stepping out and draping an arm around his shoulders.*
*Salem feels an arm wrap across his shoulder, and a familiar voice cut through the air stopping him dead in his tracks as his blood ran cold, his stomach dropped out and he stopped breathing all at once. His head snapped to look at him. No... This wasn't happening. It wasn't there was no way. In the midst of it all Arthur stepped out of the alley as well. What the hell was going on? Despite him seeing the other boy tell him to go in the midst of his brain numbing itself automatically to the point where, for a moment he thought he might black out, he couldn't move.*
*He let out what little breath was held in his lungs with the last part of that. His system was in shock and he had no idea he had started shaking slightly from it all hitting him as hard as it did.*
Vic felt him shaking and it gave him a sick pleasure as an equally sick smile crossed his features. His tone graveled out of his mouth slowly and quietly and deliberately.
"I know you're speechless." Another smirk, "Me too. I was just telling your friend here that it's been a long and hard time. For both of us."
His fingers tightened on the boy's arm, "Won't you just tell him how it was only a misunderstanding. I'm not here to hurt you. You know that son. Tell your little friend everything is alright. He's been worried."
The tone may have been sincere, but then again it may have been mocking. Regardless of what it was though, it was relieved. He could finally get his shit in order, no missing family to worry about. Vic hated loose ends.
Arthur gulps. The dulcet tones of the man’s voice notwithstanding, he can tell Salem is afraid. So afraid.
But Arthur is afraid too. He knows the man has a gun. But he can't bare seeing Salem like this, those big, sweet eyes dull and faraway, reflecting years and years of horrible history with the man.
Salem felt the man's strong fingers tighten on his arm and he felt completely helpless just then. He heard Arthur speak to him. Tell him to leave him alone. That would never work. Not with his dad. He stayed silent a moment before finally turning to Arthur and saying,
"Its fine Arthur... every things fine... just go home, and I'll call you later okay?" His voice was monotonous.
"See?" Vic smiled menacingly at the boy, "Didn't I tell you that there was no need for this."
He turned to Salem. "I hope you ain't all worked up still. You donknow the whole story. Anyway, no need to scare your friend here but I think we should probably catch up on a few things don't you?
Arthur has no idea what to do. He doesn't want to leave the man alone with Salem...but he can't get Salem away from the man either. What's he going to do, tackle Salem, pick him up and steal him? Salem doesn't want to leave. He nibbles his lip.
Salem knows plenty more than Vic could ever tell him. That was all he gave a shit about. He would have run himself if his legs were working. Still he nodded at Arthur's question.
"Yeah, go... I'll call you..." He gave him a little flick of his chin to get going. "Go ahead.."

Keep your mouth shut and...
*Vic spotted him coming before he heard the kids voice.*
Call him over here.
*He could be making a mistake here, but his gut told him to go with it. Vic uncuffed Arthur, but pressed his gun against him to make sure.*
Don't be stupid. This is a dark alley and I've got at least 20 years of connection and a hell of a lot more experience on you.
*Vic slunk a little into the alley. He was starting to feel edgy. Instinctively, he took a nip from his flask.*

*Lips parted and mouth dry, he looks in the direction that the familar voice came from.*
'S-Salem...'

"Arthur?" He spoke out again glancing around more. "Are you okay?" He called out as he moved toward where he thought the voice came from.
