[ she hurriedly tucks the ace back into the deck, embarrassed. ] What?

[ she leans against the door frame to look at her sister. ] Just wondered if you were home since mum and dad aren't here.

They've gone out for dinner. [ petunia's eyes flick back to the card deck and then to lily again, mouth turning downward. ] I thought you'd have gone with them.

Didn't feel much like going out. [ even if she feels like she's lost her sister, lily can't help but want to try spending time with her. ]

I'm surprised mum let you get away with that. They're so excited you decided to come home for the holidays. [ she stands to face lily in the doorway, arms crossing low over her chest. ] We thought you'd be staying at that -- at school.

( ooc; her name is lou broadbent from the land girls series. i don't think she's been in anything else, but don't quote me! and this is my first attempt at her, so let me know if it's terrible. )

I thought about staying, but when I found out that Potter and his group of misfits were staying behind I decided to come home for a bit of peace and quiet. [ she shoves her hands into her pockets and glances around. ] Feels good to be home, you know.

That's a shame. I know how much you prefer your own kind. [ petunia wasn't expecting the bitter words until they were already out. she flushes, but doesn't take them back. ]

[ ouch, those words hurt and it reminds her of the whole freak incident when they were younger. she closes her eyes for a second, blinking the tears that want to come away before pushing away from the door frame. ] Right.

[ she bites back the bitter and angry words that want to come out. thankfully her owl starts screeching and it gives her an excuse to leave the room. ]
