The Vanir or all of the Nine Realms?

All of us, though I've been reading up on a rather interesting account of the Great War, which I suppose is what got me thinking.

Thinking of how barbaric the Nine Realms are, or rather how one realm dominates the others?

I don't care for war, it makes things so busy. The Aesir are inevitably involved in the fight but most of their dead are sent to Valhalla so that alleviates the pressure somewhat.

You must admit that it is somewhat ironic, that Asgard has somehow managed to bring all of the remaining realms under its rulership. Particularly since they have not always been the victor in those battles they do so enjoy having.

Neither do I, though it is sometimes a necessary evil.

I have to admire them for maintaining such high opinions of themselves, throughout all the assaults on their national pride.

It only means that the fall will be that much further for them, I fear.

Is there any other kind?

I dare say all histories are bloody in some form or another. Still, ours does seem to have more than its fair share.

Is it surprising though that warriors would find many ways to go to war?

Warriors excel at finding their way into battles - war, however, is more the place for generals and kings.

In the sense that they are far more likely to reap the splendor than the loss and bloodshed, yes.

I must confess, I never understood this pursuit of glory all warriors seem so fascinated by. One would think that a life well lived is the greatest reward a man could hope to receive.

Not to belittle their efforts, of course.

To some, there is no life lived well without that glory.

And what of the children? Those too young to lift a blade.

They have something to strive for, when they grow up? It's one way of living, anyway...certainly it's not for everyone. Even I know that, eager fighter that I am.
