How about the winter solstice?

I'm not entirely sure. What day of the week does that fall on this year? I'm pretty certain it doesn't qualify for holiday time.

It's the twenty-first. Four days before Christmas, and reason to celebrate, as well.

I thought it was the twenty-second this year. [Christian shrugs his shoulders passively.] Either way, I don't know what day of the week that falls on. If it's a weekday I'm sure that I'll be working. Solstice doesn't seem to be a day that gets a lot of recognition, and especially not on a national holiday level.

Probably, probably, and... I can't say I realized there was a specific date associated with that ceremony, but even if it happens multiple times a year than probably on all of those as well. [Blah.]

Vacation Day? [Christian's voice carries a tinge of disbelief, but he chuckles dryly nonetheless.] The undoubtedly I'll be working a double shift on that day.

I'm doing a professional internship in a community center geared towards youth. We have a walk-in crisis clinic that's going to be open all throughout the holidays.

Ah. So...it's exactly the opposite and you're like a genuinely good person and I'm just being rather pig-headed and unfunny. I apologize.

Trust me, it was neither pig-headed nor that unfunny. [Christian pays a wan smile in the direction of the voice, and nervously raises a hand and rubs at the corner of one eye.] It's just that the evil person I work for isn't really a person, but rather a nonprofit organization, and it's actually my fellow workers who are evil. I didn't realize that being unmarried and childless put me first in line to take all the least-wanted shifts.
