[ Knocks on the classroom door and peeks her head in, smiling. ] Hey Mr. Mason! My car broke down this morning and my mom can't pick me up for an hour or so, I was wondering if I could wait for her in here? It's really cold out.
[ She beams at him and goes to sit riiiiight up at the front, right in front of his desk. ] Thanks, Mr. Mason. I really didn't want want to have to wait outside in this weather.
[ He nods a little, smiling uncertainly, ducking his head slightly. ] S'not a problem. Wouldn't have been proper of me to let you stand outside on your own, anyway.
Still, there are a lot of teachers who wouldn't have let me in. I really appreciate it. [ Goes into her bag and pulls out her math textbook and her graphing paper, getting to work on her homework. ]
Well, I guess it's a good thing you came to my classroom instead of theirs then. [ He gives her another little smile and looks back down at his work. ]
[ Glances up at him after a few minutes, biting her lip. ] Hey, Mr. Mason, I'm sorry to bother you, but could you come over here and help me? This problem is really confusing the crap out of me.
What's the pages for tonight's homework? I wrote it down, but... [He holds up the page he wrote the assignment on. It was slightly mangled and dripping milk on the floor. Might be best not to ask.]
[ He blinks at the paper, and then flips through his notes, looking under the notebooks he's writing in. ] Of course, just a second... [ He lifts the binder all of the notebooks are resting on, causing them to fall on the floor. ] Aw, damn! Um, well. [ Checks the paper in front of him. ] The assignment's on pages three-eighty-one to three-eighty-three.
