ooc: Heh, it's a challenge that sometimes isn't worth it given the direction of conversation!
It's the 'quick fix' mentality that I deal with all the time. Or at least when those 'quick fixes' fail and people end up realising they just don't exist.
A contract that makes you see a therapist? *wary* Pretty heavy.
*grins* Well, they realise the 'quick fixes' don't work - I'm a personal trainer, and self-defence instructor. All those fad diets and fancy food things? Interesting way they try and explain away the basics.
So you're in TV, huh? Guess that explains the contract.
Oh, I see! That makes sense. With your responses to my original post, I did not believe you were in any of the professions within the psychology field. But a personal trainer would certainly be familiar with lots of 'quick fix' schemes.
I am, yes. It wasn't exactly what I aspired to do since my background is in finance. But I do fall back on that as the Banker for Deal or No Deal.
Sure am. And it's what people want more and more - fix it now, fix it quick. Everyone these days is into 'instant' gratification, immediate answers. Reckon there should be a big sign put up on Times Square, or wherever - Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day! And neither was your lifestyle! - or something like that.
Your background is in finance and you ended up on a TV show? What's Deal or No Deal? One of those game show things?
Oh, it can be a bit on the 'crazy' side. Especially with some of the contestants we've had on the show. Some of them are so shrill and hyper. They give me a headache, honestly.
Ah, yes, I can imagine. The few times I've seen some of those shows? Tell me, I've often wondered, *grins, curious* do they actually feed the audience on sugar, or uppers or something?
Well, on the show I'm on, it's not so much the audience that annoys me. For the most part, those who are just viewing the game are well mannered.
Yet, those that play it and those that are there to support the contestant? Well...I wouldn't be surprised if some of them were hyped up on a mix of caffeine and sugar.
They can be a hyper bunch. I've learned to tune them out for the most part though.
Indeed. *sighs, thinking about a couple of contestants he particularly did not like*
Outside of working...*pauses, thinking*
My family is here in LA though and I spend time with them from time to time. In fact not too long ago, I let my two nieces appear on the show. They had fun.
I took a couple of classes over the summer. Not sure if I got what I wanted to out of them though.
Well, they were just elective classes. I was supposed to learn how to relax, I suppose. I took pottery and yoga classes. Of the two, the pottery class was more disappointing.

I suppose I cannot really say much in regards to that. I do know I have a bit of an ego.
Still, I suppose all this feel good nonsense sells so easily since people are looking for a 'quick fix' to make them feel better about their lives.
That's not why I'm seeing a therapist though. Seeing one is sadly in my contract.

They certainly don't. So why do you have to deal with people who realize they don't exist?
Well, I do work for a network television show. I suppose there's some legal rationale behind that contract clause.

Deal or No Deal is one of those game shows, yes. The ones with the models who open silver briefcases.
I can explain the rules further if you'd like but usually when I say that much, the answer I receive is, "Oh that one!"

But I like my job. It's fun playing the villain. *smirks*

What about you? Do you ever push your therapist's buttons?

Yeah, guess I did. Last time was apparently more than she liked though. Must've found the one that really pissed her off.

No, it gave me my freedom.

Your freedom? Sounds like whatever happened to you was a rather serious matter.

Me? I walk. Or run. I'm a little addicted to travel, but always love coming home. You know the old cliche, there's no place like home.

Traveling can be wonderful though I would have to agree there is truth to that cliché.
