[Isaac spots her during one of the last few dances. If anything, it settles her new rank in his mind. He's never known a much higher rank to help with what is considered by many to be the most menial of kitchen jobs.]

[A shame, that--she's actually finding it rather relaxing. There's a small CD player blaring Mumford and Sons, and she might have been singing along before he came in.]

You're welcome. I'd much rather do the dishes than the cooking, any day.

It takes plenty less concentration, which can be nice.

Did you enjoy the party?

Very much so. I spent more time dancing than I had expected to--which makes me wish I actually knew how to.

[She sets a glass serving platter on the drying rack before turning toward Isaac.]

Did you enjoy yourself tonight?

It's easier to learn than you'd think.

Of course. There were no disasters; the evening carried off quite well. [All about duty. But there's a secret sort of smile there, for Charleston-offs and mistletoe.]

[She sees the smile and answers it with her own.] The only flaw the evening had was those who didn't show, in my opinion.

Their loss, I daresay. Didn't miss anyone, did you?

I simply think it would have been nice to have the monarchs of my suit there.

[She shrugs, reaching into her pocket to offer the golden acorn hairslide back to Isaac.]

I suppose they had prior engagements. [Monarchs are tricky creatures. Isaac's secretly quite glad not to have had the additional stress of catering to all of the royals.

And a waved hand.] Consider it a seasonal gift, or payment for the dishwashing.

Thank you. I'll be sure to come to you for hair help when I have occasion to wear it.

I'm not so sure Miss Tegan will appreciate me stealing such a proficient cleaner from her kitchens.
