Um. Sorry. I didn't mean to stare, I just... they look like they hurt. But my uncle has burns like that on his chest and he says they don't usually. So I was just wondering. Um. Shutting up now.

Only a bit. But when I got them? Pretty much like Hell.

That's what my uncle said, that it was the worst pain he'd ever had. I worry sometimes it bothers him more than he says. I won't ask how it happened, though, because it's probably bad. I'm just glad you're okay and I hope it feels better.

It was very bad indeed. But the one who did this to me? Ended up actually getting the worst part of the deal.

[She smiles a bit, though.]

The guy who tried to kill my uncle ended up being murdered. Bad things tend to happen to bad people. I'm glad that whoever hurt you can't do it anymore.

I try. My mom says I'm too serious about things, though.

But they take sometimes a long time to happen. The guy who did this to me is still alive, though, looking like the monster he is. But anyhow.
[She offers him her hand]

But don't worry, I'm very much accustomed to this. I simply stare back until people realize it's none of their business.

I just worry about people. I think other people are worried too. They probably don't mean anything bad by it. They mean well.

It's one of the cases where they might not mean bad but end up doing it. I don't really like when they go all pity on me. I'm a survivor, not a victim.
But anyhow..

You're not supposed to worry about survivors? My uncle still has nightmares and I still worry about him, and it's been years since it happened.

It's different, though. The way someone treats a survivor than how that someone treats a victim.

I try. It's hard to know how to behave. My uncle laughs everything off, but that kind of makes me worry more. I don't think I understand people very well.
