"Yep! L-O-V-E...four letters," he smirked tiredly at her. "Now get off that thing and show me you love me." Eric found it amusing how she balanced the laptop off her belly. He didn't know how she managed to type much with how their daughter seemingly protested being used as a flat surface. Every couple of minutes (or less) the laptop would give a little jump.
"Is that how it's spelled?" she smirked, glancing back down at her screen and finishing up her email and sending it before she shut the laptop. She chuckled as Mariella gave the thing one last kick of protest before she shifted it off her belly and onto the couch.
"You're so needy, baby," she teased, looking up at Eric but rubbing her belly affectionately.
Lois didn't come to him so Eric doubled over and gave her belly a kiss. "She needs her mom to stop smothering her with a laptop and give her Papi some love," he responded as he sat back up. So far, so good. There was no fighting yet that night and she hadn't asked why he was coming home earlier with less paperwork.
Lois chuckled, reaching a hand out to brush through Eric's hair as he kissed her belly.
"C'mere, you," she grinned, tugging him in by the collar and landing a kiss on his lips. Nudging his nose with hers, she patted the seat next to her. "I'm just getting the last of my work together for Clark before Chief forces me into maternity leave."
Eric moved off from his corner of the couch and enveloped Lois who had sat on the opposite end when she prompted him to. He had tried giving her space, knowing he needed it at times. However, he'd be a liar not to admit that he seemed to need it a lot less than his girlfriend. Maybe it had to do with him being the youngest and her the oldest in their respective families. He had no idea.
"You need to get on that pretty soon, Babe. You're tired all the time. The baby doesn't abide by the due date. I'd hate you stuck in the middle of Metropolis somewhere and your water breaks. Better for you to be at home," he ushered while nestling against her, his face resting lightly at hers.
She shifted a bit on the couch to make room for him, burying her face in his chest a moment and smiling. Taking a deep breath, she melted into his arms and lifted her head to press a kiss to his chin. She may have been independent, but that wasn't to say she didn't love when he showered her with affection.
"I know, I know. Everyone keeps telling me that. But there are just so many loose ends," she sighed, gesturing to her laptop. "I'll be done by next week. One more story to tie up, I promise."
bah, stupid tagging from a cell phone! *he needed affection a lot MORE than his girlfriend, not less
"Babe...there will always be loose ends. That's the nature of work. Especially your work. There's always a story to tell. And I love how passionate you are about your job. I love that you're probably the only reporter left on the earth who isn't striving for fame and glory. You only wanna tell the story. But you're about to have the biggest scoop of your life. It should take the headlines over anything you could give the Planet," he coaxed without releasing his hold.
Eric could only hope it wouldn't end up being another fight. It seemed that their constant argument was him trying to find a place in her life and Lois accomodating him. Well, lately it was him trying to get her to accomodate him and the baby. He had put them in front of his own career and expected the same in return. It might have been helpful if he told her about the changes at work but kept it as his burden to bear.

Eric stopped dead in his tracks. Sandy, a uniform officer, had been walking with him. He was teasing (mostly) at her gushing about a recent anniversary dinner. His love life was non-existent. Particularly with Calleigh opting for motherhood than worry about what they were. "That's what I've been telling him!" Sandy commented with a laugh. "I'd love to stay and hear the crazy argument you're gonna pose Delko, but I'm already late for a call!"
"You're lucky I like you, Sandra!" he called after her.
"You're lucky I like YOU, Delko. Only my mom calls me Sandra. And I'm a Daddy's Girl!" she answered before disappearing from the hall.
Eric turned his gaze back at the newest addition to the plain clothes wearing crew. "Cynic, huh?" he asked, curious as to what she might have heard about him. Maybe she just had her own happiness to tout.
wait, u see what i did thur?! NOOOO. /so tired. need sleep. not coffee. more antibiotics.
Standing upright from her previously hunched over position, Anna ran a hand through her hair and adjusted the black-framed glasses on her nose. The interaction between Delko and the uniform makes her smile a little - reminding her for a minute of Manhattan - and then the smile fades into a more or less impassive expression. Right now wasn't the time to get all rainbows and sunshine with her new teammates. God, she'd barely had time to grieve the loss of her job and her family in New York before she'd been cast out like some modern-day leper. It still hurt too damn much.
Now, she wouldn't be rude or incredibly distant. That would just make her life worse. She was just going to remain cautious of her interactions with her new team. Especially since she was coming in as a strict police liaison with no CSI qualifications. Hopefully it was the same as Manhattan when she and Flack helped out the Crime Lab.
"That's usually somethin' you hear from a hopeless cynic who made the choice to give up on love." There was a slight shrug and Anna's hands slipped into the pocket of her dark, fitted jeans. She might be plain clothes, but she didn't exactly look like she belonged in Miami. The emerald green v-neck t-shirt she wore under her black half-vest brought out her also-green eyes, but the color scheme was too deep and bold for Miami.
*pets you* I will try to go find the other thread so I can answer about Ryan. Dunno where it went :(
"You speaking from experience? Or is there some rumor goin' around that I should know about?" he asked without being accusatory. His eyes and tone were friendly. She amused him. And intrigued him. Anna was quiet yet not necessarily rude or unfriendly. Eric didn't know what to make of her. The jumping into his conversation at least let him know she wanted to connect. Even if it was to chastise him.
He perched himself on the corner of her desk, setting the file in hand flat on the surface with a hand on top, his eyes watching her intently--an interested smile gracing his lips.
