[Her little brow furrows up.] Why would she do that to you?

Yes, sir. I can be brave. [She did want to cry but that would not make it better.] I wanted to do something nice for her even if she does not like it.

Mr. Vlad helped me choose it. It was supposed to be something nice for Mother but she did not want it.

[She was doing a good job of being brave this time. If it made someone smile it was better then throwing it outside like she was going to do.] You may have it if you want.

[Selene kneeled down and lifted her hair off of her neck.] It is a beautiful necklace. Did you pick it out yourself?

[She undid the clasp after fumbling with it for a minute and slid it around her neck before shutting it, careful not to snag her pretty hair.] Thank you. Mr. Vlad helped me pick it out though, he is a ladies' man.
