Not much of a drinker actually. Though I tend to play it safe and go with beer. [So he ordered them both a Corona.]
Janet likes us to go out and rub elbows at places like this. I hate it. [He secretly thought she did it to him to get back at him for his goofing off during interviews.]
[They slowly make their way through the crowd toward the far corner of the place. Thankfully, it's less crowded over here, just the way they both seem to like it.
He smiles, tilting his head curiously.] Out to get you because she makes you get out?
[Sam chuckles.] I was goofing off during an interview, she's pissed. When she is pissed I find myself being sent out to play celebrity a lot more frequently. She knows I hate it. Especially on my own.
[So it took this long for it to dawn on Mark that he's here with a celebrity. No excuses why it took so long. But it did.]
Well you've got me. Which... granted I'm not amazing stuff but, I'll stick it out with you until another famous person comes along or... someone cooler. Both of which are possible. I'm pretty sure I can keep rabid fans away though.
[Sam's brow rose at that.] I'll stick with you. Not really one of those people that flocks to famous people. They aren't as amazing as page six makes them out to be.
[She finds sets his drink on his side before taking the offered chair.] A zoo wishes it had this kind of attendance. How did you convince me to come out to this place again?
[Mark smirks and sips at his beer.] Sensationalism is rarely so sensational? Yeah, I get that. Have you ever been on page six? Or seven? Or any number?
I try not to look at those things. My skin isn't thick enough yet. But, I'm just sort of in the background, not being the front man has it's perks. I can still go grocery shopping and come home in one piece.
That's nice. Being unable to do those daily things seems... I don't know. It seems like a lot of unnecessary pressure. I'm glad you don't have that. And there has yet to be a rabid fan so...
[He finds a tall table with several stools around it and sits down atop one, setting his beer on the table.] Are you guys playing in the New York area anytime soon?
[He looks back to sam, brows lifted and eyes wide. That was an offer he hadn't expected. And vicariously one he can't refuse because he's never been on stage in a concert before. Mark likes trying new things.]
Really? Uh, yeah! That would be great. I've never... yeah.
