You feel different [April opens her eyes to look at the young man. He was a vampire, she could tell that much. But... different somehow]

Let's just say my time hasn't come yet.

A step out of time. You mentioned wanting to see the earth before it was burnt? Anywhere particular?

Five years specifically. And yes - nuclear fire isn't fun. *quiet for a moment* Home. I wish I could. I can't risk altering the timeline though.

I was out of time once. And will be again... it can be tricky.

Oh? What happened?

I once met my future self... and have yet gone back in time to cross my past. It won't happen for another couple of months.

...Well you've got me beat. The portal I go through only goes back five years consistently from whatever point I'm at in the future, and vice versa.

And to different worlds too?

Nope. Just earth for me. I'm guessing the energy of all the bombs going off at the same time tore open rifts in space time. Though they don't stay open all the time. They open and close.

I meant different Earths. Your present, is not my future. So we must not be from the same dimension.

Ah, yes, I see what you mean. The whole parallel dimensions thing. String theory, right?

I guess so... I am not much for science I am afraid. [April laughs softly] But I have met others from different dimensions. Good friends.

How is it that you go through time?

I have a PINpoint [April holds up an object that looks like a cell phone]

*blinks* A hand held time machine?

It is not really a time machine. It helps me visit other dimension. But has accidently done the time warp once or twice too.

Ah, I see. So it's for trans-dimensional displacement. One of the bugs is just that it moves through time now and then.

I have only gone through time once. So it is not like it happens often...

Well, even so, it happens. *smiles* My name is Alexander, by the way. You can call me Alex, though. What's your name?

I am April. [She offers her hand] Nice to meet you.

*takes her hand and kisses it - yes, he's very oldschool gentleman when it comes to things like that* The pleasure is mine.

So why are you here?

I come here to meet new people. There is a better chance to meet others like me around these parts, than there is at home.

*curious* Like you?

[She shrugs] I am a vampire.

Well then, I'm not the only one. Fancy that. *pause* So are you more folkloric, or scientific?

[April thinks on that a little] Fictional. Would be more appropriate. My dimension is known as just a TV show or comic book in some other places.

Really? Is it known by the same name every time?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. or Angel the TV series. I have seen episodes.

*blinks* I used to watch Buffy. Well, now and then. Kinda came on at bad times. Family lives on the west coast... and buys an east coast timed cable package. Brilliant, right? *sarcasm*

That must be interesting to go to another dimension and be able to watch yours on TV.

I am not in the series, myself. So it is interesting to watch it. And not endanger my own timeline.

So where are you from in that dimension?

Technically, I would have been born during the whole Angel series. You know when Connor was born... right about then. But just to different vampires.

What I mean is where in the world. But that's something I've always thought was interesting.

Vampires giving birth? Yah... [April touches her stomach, which is barely showing right now, but she is with child] So am I.

I was in Rome. Then Los Angeles most recently.

*glances at her stomach as she touches it, then smiles* Congratulations. *smiles*

From Rome to L.A. - nice. You move around a lot, don't you?

I do. I don't even live in my dimension anymore. I live with my husband.

What dimension is that?

Well he is Clark Kent. A lot of people know him as Superman. He dimension was shown as the 'Smallville' TV series.

So the DC universe, basically. *pause* I wonder if that means Marvel is real somewhere too... *yes, he thinks that would be awesome*

I have met a few Marvel folk. Talked to a Professor X once.

...So... very... awesome... I'm officially jealous now. *chuckles*

You hang around enough and you will meet them for yourself.

I can only hope. Granted, I just hope I keep living.
