Found some of my old comics.

Comics? Like kids books?

Yeah. Like Spiderman, the Avengers, a few 9th Wonders...

I can't say I have much experience in that field. Are they any good?

Some of them are.

Well I think that's the way with most literature. So which is your favorite then?

[spongetastic]

I'm partial to Spiderman. His name is Peter, too.

[living_history]

Spiderman? And just what does he do? [He was fairly certain he could have figured it out but it almost seemed to easy. To literal.]

[spongetastic]

Crawls on walls, has the usual super-strength and agility. And he makes these devices to shoot out synthetic webs.

[living_history]

I can't see how that'd be entirely useful. But I suppose it's better than being normal.

[spongetastic]

It's a comic book, Adam. It's just for fun.

[living_history]

[It's not entirely a concept he understands. He never read one as a kid, of course they didn't have them when he was a kid and it really wasn't something that needed any research as he grew older. It was nothing that he really needed. He picks up one of the comics and sort of flips through one.]

Why are they so small? I thought they were books.

[spongetastic]

[sometimes Peter forgets how old Adam really is. He can't help but look a little amused]

They're more like magazines, I guess. Just enough story to pull you in before you have to wait anxiously for the next issue.

[Too old for his own good really.]

So it's basically like television you read then?

[It probably wasn't the greatest analogy ever but it was relating something he was familiar with to something he wasn't.]

I guess.

[living_history]

I see. I don't know if I'd be interested in something that I'd have to wait for.

[spongetastic]

Are you kidding? Getting the new issue of Spiderman was the highlight of my day when I was a kid.

[living_history]

So it came out daily then?

[spongetastic]

No, I just bought whatever I could. My dad made me use my own money so I usually could only get one or two every week.

[living_history]

It's a smart lesson at the very least. I suppose if you enjoyed it then that was all that truly mattered. I'm not entirely sure that I get it still. [He's just going to sort of flip through the one he has. It's quite short isn't it? At least it's a quick read then.]

[spongetastic]

They're stories about regular guys who become heroes. Pretty inspirational for a kid.

Is that why you hold the moral values you do now?

[spongetastic]

I had to learn them from somewhere. [since his family isn't the best source for it]

[living_history]

[Isn't that the truth.] Huh. Interesting. [It's hard to believe a ten page book can teach something like that. He hands the comic back to Peter.] Suppose that's not a bad thing.

[spongetastic]

[tucks the comic in his back pocket] You can read some if you're interested.

Perhaps. Do you have something a little more on the science fiction aspect?
