Department policy when I took the opening. There were two options: Stay where I was and give up being Sheriff, hit on more Valium, sit in an empty house, and become a pastor. Or, I could take up a NYPD Detective opening if I agreed to monitoring, I agreed. Had I not agreed I wouldn’t have run into a woman who told me I wasn’t losing my shit…excuse my French… Now? I see a shrink two days a week. Got off the Valium to take up smoking. And try to convince my boss the antacids aren’t for an ulcer.
