[There was the scent of death that put his hair on edge and set him growling, then, focusing on his anchor, he pulled himself back enough to remember. He knew this person. And, abruptly, the growling stopped and he looked at Ruby. Recognizing her as someone he liked, he paused.]
Ruby had to resist the urge to reach out and pet him, because seriously, how is he so cute? She doesn't. While possible, she has no intention of spending the next two days growing back her fingers if he decides to take a bite out of them.
"Pretty sure with hearing like your's you'd have heard me."
Big claws, big teeth, and a bundle of instincts that if he lost control of he could end up mauling someone...he didn't really think he was cute in his werewolf form. Badass, yes, but not cute.
"It's not something I can explain. But I think it's the eyes."
When Ruby grins, there's the flash of her own fangs, of bright blue eyes and manicured nails grow into sharp, pointed claws; whiter in colour than Isaac's but no less deadly.
At the sudden shift, Isaac took a step back, pausing for a moment before venturing slowly nearer to her. He knew she was a vampire, but his lack of familiarity with that combined with him being more on edge during the full moon made him wary.
"Don't worry, sweetie, I won't do anything. Too pretty to damage." But Ruby can understand the wary behaviour; she's on high alert herself, knowing that with the full moon, he's twitchy.
What? She'd had Scud do research for her.
She chuckles softly and holds out a hand. "See, I got my own toys."
He looks at the hand she holds out, fighting the urge to sniff it. Yes, he sees, He saw before, of course, but the non-threatening gesture puts him at ease, and he visibly relaxes.
"So, just a question, can you, like, change back at all right now or...?" She arched a brow, stepping closer. "Don't eat me, 'kay?" And a hand comes up -clawless now- to touch the bridge of his nose.
"I won't eat you." He had enough control to avoid that. Even if he lost control, he wasn't sure if the wolf within would want to eat something that smelled so dead, though the chance of him losing control and mauling her was still a possibility. "I can't change back, though. Not now."
Someday he might be like Derek, fully able to will himself back to his human form even on the full moon without an alpha forcing the change. However, that day had not yet come.
"Can't imagine I'd taste too good. Skinny as shit under all this pale skin." She shakes her head, laughing like there's some form of joke. Which, she supposes it is funny in it's pointlessness; because it wasn't hard to tell she was a stick under nothing but a corsette and mini skirt. Whatever.
She continues to pet his face with one finger, scrunching her own nose up. "I kinda expected you to be a little more... wolf-like. Think I prefer this. I'm not a dog a person."
"And you smell like a corpse." She expected him to look more wolf-like? The petting his face with her finger was getting kind of distracting, though. After a few moments of it, he gives a dog-like shake of his head to throw it off.
"Ouch. Way to hurt a girl's feelings, Isaac." She pulls her hand back and laughs. She knows how to take a hint and she makes sure to put a bit of space between them, never once breaking eye contact. "Seriously, you are too cute."
He never had anyone talk about how cute he was like this before, especially while he was a wolf. Of course, he'd only recently got enough control to be conversing instead of mauling, but still, it wasn't really the reception he was expecting.
"Yet it occurred to you that I might try to eat you. Probably a good idea."
"Believe it or not, I have enough self preservation to be wary of the werewolf on a full moon. 'Sides, I'm pretty sure I could take you if it came down to that." The smile never leaves her face and she shrugs.
Smirking, Ruby flicks her hair back over her shoulder.
One of the things about Ruby was her attention span, which resembled that of a gnat. Topic jumping was a given. "So what does it feel like? Like, for you right now, what does it feel like?"
"Amazing. I feel like I'm full of life, like I want to run through the woods and tear out the throat of the first deer I come across. I want to howl to my pack, and I want to hunt." He paused, considering. "It takes a bit of effort to keep from just trying to kill everything, though."
"That last part is something I understand well." Ruby grins, flashing fangs. "Why don't you hunt? Or is it too much of a risk? Even to hunt deer or whatever.
"I wonder how similar that hunger is to my thirst." It's said mostly to herself, considering.
"Haven't had much of a chance to with hunter activity...wouldn't mind it, though."
He kept his mouth closed, but ran his tongue along his teeth, picturing them sinking into a deer's neck. Maybe as a human he'd have an issue with hunting a deer down with his claws and teeth in the woods, but at the moment it just sounded exhilarating.
"Up for it? I promise to make sure no innocent ca-humans get hurt." By him, anyway. There was no guarantee she wouldn't hunt at some point in the evening.
"I'll even keep any hunters that may be around off your back."
"Yeah. I'm up for it." He'd have been up for it with just her keeping the Argents off his back. He was honestly more worried about that than losing control and hurting someone, mostly because he didn't actually believe he wouldn't be able to regain control.
"Try and keep up."
And with a smirk, he turned off, bounding into the woods.
Ruby watches after him for a moment before following after him, her six inch stilettos no problem at all despite the height of them and the unevenness of the ground. She kicks off trees and leaps from branches, laughing all the while.
She even pushes the boundaries, darting in front of him and pinching at his stomach as she goes.
When Ruby pinches his stomach, he growls and snaps, and he's fairly certain when she darts in front of him that she's the one he's chasing. Fortunately, as a vampire, Ruby is able to keep out of his grasp and, even if he did catch her, she likely could hold her own.
Ruby cackles evilly, ducking away quickly before dancing back into view and poking her tongue out at him. "C'mon, pup, keep up. And here was you thinking you could outrun me." She laughs again. "And I'm in heels!"
