I had a mum tell me that her kid, who was close to eight stone already, should be allowed to have snacks any time he pleased in my class because 'he gets hungry during the day and he's a growing boy' oh he's a growing boy alright but he's growing in the wrong direction!
Well I shouldn't be teaching those classes, I'm rubbish at it. But I can't believe a parent asked me to allow that. Aside from the fact that he really didn't need to be snacking it's not fair to the other students who might not be able to get snacks. Some kids I know for a fact the only meals they get are the breakfast and lunch provided by the schools. Which is terrible. But sadly it does happen.
Well thankfully it's policy that there's no food or drink in the classrooms. But she wasn't too pleased. I got called quite a few names. Of course it's always like this, this time of year.
