Two enemies that my husband will have to fight.

I feel like I am always bearing bad news for him...

Well not always... [because being pregnant wasn't bad news]

But knowing the future does bring difficult messages to deliver.

I won't pretend to know what that's like, 'cuz I don't know.

But you're not a bad omen. Trust me.

It is hard sharing bad news. Especially this...

Better to have any kinda warning than none at all...

I guess that is true.

[Slight pause]

I had an encounter with one of Clark's alternates. He made a comment that has me a little worried.

[jarheadclan]

What'd he say? [He's never met an alternate, of himself or any of his friends, but he's heard about them.]

That I have been caging my husband.

[jarheadclan]

...you haven't been, right?

[slayers_desire]

Not literally. But at times he wears this bracelet... that deprives him of his powers.

Whoa. [He did not know that was even possible.] You talk him into it or does he volunteer, though?

He volunteers. [A small smile]

I'd say that's pretty black and white, April.

Talking to those alternates always confuse me. They have his face, but not the connection.

I am glad you came along, so I could confide in someone.

Just think of 'em like they're twins. Tom and I couldn't have been more different, but put us together and most folks couldn't tell us apart.

These two were very different. Night and day different.

So were me and Tommy. Well. Not so much anymore, but we started that way.

I don't even know if I have an alternate. Dealing with his is always interesting...

I've never met one either, so for all I know, Tommy was the closest thing I had to that. Never met anyone else's either.

How have things been for you Jake?

Can't complain. The clan's pretty well settled into the new Hometree and things are back to normal, or so I'm told. We've managed to set up a bit of trade between the Omaticaya and the Sky People who stayed behind. Little stuff, mostly, trinkets and songs and stuff like that. But it's better than us killing each other.

That is good news. I am glad things are going well.
