[ Mal's used to that, and actually prefers it these days. ]
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But on the other hand you can go on picnics with your friends too... right? I mean, I haven't but I don't really have that many friends.
[ Foxface can relate to that. She isn't as gifted at socializing as she is with gaining knowledge. ]
I suppose so, yes. But don't normal friends go out in bigger groups on occasion? If a single person asked you to meet them alone for something like that, it implies a sort of date-like situation, doesn't it?
I haven't had much quality time recently. But if a male takes his time to spend it with you, it usually means that he cares about you. In some fashion.
[Mal might note that 'Melanie' has no problems looking right at her. In fact she seems quite pleased]
Well yeah, I wasn't doubting that. Just wondering in what way he cares.
[ It takes a while for her to catch on, seeing as how she doesn't really look at people herself. When she finally does, though, she frowns a little. That's weird.
Not that it's the first time someone's gone unaffected, it's happened before and the effects of what she usually thinks of as her 'creepout aura' seems to go away with time for some if they try looking at her a lot.
Still, this is kind of weird. ]
Do I... know you, by the way?
[ Because that's kind of a weird look to be giving a girl you don't know. ]
Well, we're kind of from... different cultures, so we show each other stuff that we're not used to seeing or doing. And we talk, we talk about everything.
[ Many, many, many generations ago that's probably where it started on her mother's side, yes. Not that anyone but Mal has seemed this much of a gorgon for a long, long time and the truth of the family history has been lost for just as long, so her parents had no idea what to make of it when their kid started sprouting wings. ]
Really? [ So maybe she met this woman when she was really young or something, and that's why she can't remember. ]
But... [Medusa moves to remove her sunglasses, and her turban, revealing the locks of snakes that are her hair. And the serpent eyes that blink at Mal. A Gorgon, after all, can not stone another Gorgon]
In the old days, I was known as Medusa. The Gorgon queen.
