[She laughs and smiles brightly.] No not really. I'm a little like a walking heater. Most of the time I don't notice cold at all. Unless its snowing

Well all right then. How have you been doing? I'm doing all right, merely busy. The kittens are growing and have fairly well taken over my home.

Bet your girl is having fun with that! [Don't ask how she knows who your girlfriend is. Or about said girlfriend's affinity for cats. She's a phoenix, she has ways. Or they met because of her white cat, whichever.]

Oh, things are going lovely. They got their own bedroom with toys and beds and climby things, and they're almost old enough for me to try them on catnip.

Oh most of them don't actually figure out I'm different. I don't bother hiding it, but humans are willfully blind to a lot of things.

I'm also lucky. All a human can do is inconvenience me for a little while. So I'm in no real danger.

It means they ignore stuff that's right in front of them. Like the way my hair changes what shade or red or orange it is from one moment to the next, or flickers of a color that shouldn't be in my eyes. Or even the way I'm too warm to be a regular human.

Yes, I know. And I think for now it's wise to keep humans in the dark about your kind. They're a narrow minded race, and while it's difficult to kill vampires the hunters do manage it far more often than I like, but I hope one day to show them that the beings like you and me who are above them are generally not a threat. And to recognize the few that are actually a danger.

It's very silly of them. Humans are rather adorable though, I admit.

Maybe you met one of the better hunters than. There are some who realize that there's plenty of good beings, and only go after the bad ones.

They're a bit tricky, yes. It's amazing what humans have come up with though. I love them, even if they're a ridiculous race.

[And something that, as a rule, she considers below her. Having watched them come into being and grow will do that. And being something they often mislabel as a goddess.]
