Romance is an insultingly underestimated genre.

It gets drowned out by sex in general. Romance is an art, sex is a staple.

...like in life, or in books?

Oh. Maybe it's because they always have those goofy looking covers?

I think it depends on what a person defines romance as.

Genre, is that to do with movies and books?

[personal profile] ofdrumsthesound 2012-10-18 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Because most of it is insultingly purile and gets in the way of the story.

Honestly, humans are sex-obsessed.

Thankfully. Your world's good books are okay, but hardly great. Your bad ones? I wouldn't wish them on a Dalek.

Well, maybe a Dalek. But they're psychotic xenophobic squids in robotic metal barrels, so the hell with them.

It sounds like you are interested in that sort of entertainment. Why are you so concerned about whether other people like the romance genre?

*He's crazy, but not about that bit.*

Not really, Time Lords had low sex drives. *He rolls his eyes.* And to be honest, they were the sort of bores who don't write fiction of any kind. I miss the planet, but the people were generally dull as dirt.

I'm glad we didn't have romance, though. So sappy--ow. *His flesh fades into blue light, then reappears.* Sorry. Had an accident a few years ago, and accidents with clarketech can have very odd side effects indeed.

Maybe. Or because it's aimed at women, it's dismissed. We have a pretty sexist culture.

You really shouldn’t put personal and professional together for any reason, unless you’re interested in giving yourself an ulcer.

Who put your panties in a twist by saying romantic books and movies were a guilty pleasure?

I have the Doctor, but he never could fix me. Despite a thousand years of trying.

At least the opinion keeps you passionate about what you do.

What are some names to your books?
