River arched a subtle eyebrow at his comment. "Oh, not fast enough for some people," she responded with equal teasing, then sitting forward to slide her hand into his. But when he spoke his name, her demeanour changed. There was a gentle lift of her eyebrows and the hand that had gone to give his a firm shake had relaxed its hold.

"Jack Harkness?" she then repeated. "Captain Jack Harkness?"

There couldn't be many with that name walking around Earth, particularly not one who ticked all the boxes of his character profile. As her surprise faded, her smile widened, and she shook his hand properly.

"Your reputation precedes you, Captain," she told him, her smile staying put.
