[There is a cheeky smile from Jack, and he almost seems to be let down by The Doctor's refusal for a kiss.] I'm about to ask what has you turned off from kissing.
Well - y'know, kissing a married woman...! And no, Jack, not MY wife...! Someone else's wife, in fact, and...! Well, I just don't kiss anymore! That's all!
"Does it have to be New Years in order to ask for a kiss?" Jack turns around to face Jack, a smile forms on his face and he wanders over towards his old friend. "Now, how about that kiss?"
Now I'm really curious. Who was this mystery woman that you kissed? [Jack goes to just roll his eyes in amusement. And, despite not knowing much about this current regeneration, Jack was sure there was something off. ] Find a seat, and you can tell me aallll about it.
Jack lifts his arm up to check his watch, and he smiles. "Oh, it's a little bit before midnight." He plays coy about the entire custom, and a coy smile crosses his face to match.
"Stop me? I still have a healthy respect for people's boundaries, if that's what you mean. If you want to wait, I'm not going to ruin that tradition for you."
"It might not be midnight here, but it is midnight somewhere else in the universe," Jack's tone is teasing, and he takes Jack's hand in his own. He pulls Jack in close, with his hand finding it's way to the back of Jack's head, and he angles himself in for a passionate kiss on the other man's lips.
"Well, when you..." His words were cut off, soft lips pressing against Jack's as his arms wind around him. He smiled, pressing against the small of his back as he returns the kiss. A shiver runs through him, something he'll never be able to stop when it comes to the Captain.
Jack's body tenses up in response to the kiss and touch, pulls back from the kiss and he exhales a breath of warm air against Jack's neck. Ever so slowly, Jack pulls himself away from Jack. "Maybe we can do something else come midnight." There might be some very crude innuendo hidden in his invitation, and Jack has never been shy with his wants by any means.
Jack smiled, a tinge of pink to his cheeks. Yes, he was blushing. Jack did that to him. His head tilted to the side and he nodded his head. One hand reached for Jack's threading their fingers together. "I'd like that, very much," he murmured.
A bar in Times Square. Jack loves this city, he always makes time for it when time calls for it. And, time Jack has a lot of these days since the fall of Torchwood, and the end of the Miracle.
Jack was never a stranger to sitting in looking for more than just a drink. He had made his way into a VIP party for a drink, and maybe someone extra on the side. He was going to try, and talk his way into bringing the cute hostess back to his hotel room.
Well he thought it might be the hostess or his words found their way to someone else, Jack looks up from his glass of pricy Scotch and there's that ever present smile on his face. "What would it take for you to change your mind?"
“Hm, that’s for you to find out, isn’t it?” River responded with a saucy chuckle, allowing her eyes to briefly glance over the appearance of her would-be kisser. Well, she had certainly been propositioned by worse.
Waiting for him to respond, she picked up her glass once more, taking a sip of the alcohol and raising her eyebrows at him in gesture.
He had a feeling he will be having to work for that kiss, but Jack was never one who backed down from a challenge be it alien or something more down to Earth. Jack leans in closer towards her, with a slick smile on his face he takes in River.
"Are we going to be playing twenty questions? Or, do I have to do something a little more creative to get that kiss?" Jack may have bitten off more than he can chew, or maybe he was simply dusty when it came to the wants of women.
River's eyes followed him as he leant in, holding her ground when the space between them grew ever smaller. Her smile matched his own, and she appeared to be quite at ease with the flirting, a match for it even.
"Oh, I like creativity," she told him in approval, nodding her head. "But you'll need to have quite the imagination to impress me, honey."
"I'm a little old fashioned, but they say somethings never go out of style," Jack said, and he motioned with his hand for the hostess to return with the tray of drinks. "For starters, how about we get you a refill or an upgrade."
He laughs about the imagination part. "Ooooh, I think that would require us and a hotel room." He has never forgotten that he had begun to invade River's space. "Or the hotel pool."
Looking to her glass, River smiled to herself, picking it up and draining the last few drops from the glass. "A refill would be lovely. Thank you," she said, smiling to the hostess and placing her empty glass on her tray.
Turning back to Jack, River laughed warmly at his comment, her eyes sparkling with genuine enjoyment. He made her smile and that was always a surefire way to get into River's good books.
"So soon? And you don't even know my name," she pointed out, looking playfully scandalised. "But then, I don't think it's my name you really want, is it?"
Jack placed the glass on the tray, and he ordered another drink for himself. He did not take his eyes off the hostess when she went to get refills.
He didn't pay attention for a moment, and when River spoke to him he blinked and smiled. "I thought things moved a little faster during this decade." Jack's tone is teasing, and he held out his hand. "Let's get ourselves acquainted then. Jack Harkness."
River arched a subtle eyebrow at his comment. "Oh, not fast enough for some people," she responded with equal teasing, then sitting forward to slide her hand into his. But when he spoke his name, her demeanour changed. There was a gentle lift of her eyebrows and the hand that had gone to give his a firm shake had relaxed its hold.
"Jack Harkness?" she then repeated. "Captain Jack Harkness?"
There couldn't be many with that name walking around Earth, particularly not one who ticked all the boxes of his character profile. As her surprise faded, her smile widened, and she shook his hand properly.
"Your reputation precedes you, Captain," she told him, her smile staying put.
He smiled when she repeated his name. "Yup. Just, I don't use the, Captain part much lately." Jack had never reformed Torchwood after the Miracle, and even after the events afterwards. It still was one of those things best left buried.
"Which reputation are we talking about?" Jack teased her playfully, and his own smile has remained plastered to his face. "And, of course you know about my reputation, and I don't know you."
"Every reputation," she purred with a delicious inflection to her tone. Her hands tightened in his hand once more, adopting a more lady-like posture as though he was about to greet her far more traditionally.
"I'm River Song," she told him, her eyes fixed on his as she awaited the reaction. It really could be anything, every interpretation of her character was different. Some knew her as the Doctor's wife, others, the Doctor's murderer, and to everyone else, well, she was simply a mystery.
"Really?" Jack teased, and he tightens his grip around her hand, he pulled her in just a little closer. "It's a pleasure, River Song." With The Doctor being a total ass and erasing himself from history, Jack had literally fallen behind on stalking the Time Lord.
He had been as much to blame, he had been wallowing in his own self-pity for sometime, but those days are behind him. "Now, about that kiss?" Jack smiled, and he kept his eyes locked on hers.
River gasped just gently when he pulled her in, for a moment suspecting he'd heard the less than pleasant aspersions of her character. But when he spoke, she smiled again, thankful that this meeting wasn't going to turn so sour, so quickly. After all, they'd only just met.
"But we've missed the last stroke of midnight," she then murmured quietly, their faces only inches apart.
Jack had never been the greatest judge of character, and there are times when he simply doesn't care. This might be one of those. Eventually he pulled her in close enough until they would be able to feel each other breathing against each other.
He smiled, his hand going to rest right under her chin. "When has that ever stopped someone with my reputation?" He cocked his head to the right angle, and he came in closer until his lips were pressed firmly against her's.
A velvety smooth chuckle was breathed between them at his response, her lips parting just gently the closer he came. Very soon, their lips met, unleashing a slow and sensual kiss that would've been more suitable to a pair of reuniting lovers than mere acquaintances. But River Song knew what she liked, and it seemed, so did Jack.

"Honey," she began, turning her head. "If I was going to have a New Year's kiss, it would be with my - "
She stopped when she met the gaze of the man looking at her, her sentence faltering on her rejection.
"Oh," she then said, placing the glass down in front of her and elegantly sitting back. "I suppose could change my mind for you."
