It was a figure of speech, I wasn't going to literally kill someone for a cup of coffee. [This gets a cheeky smile from Jack.] Though the idea has crossed my mind a few times before.
[It is a huge part of his charm and Jack knows it. Slipping his hands into his coat pocket, Jack smiles.] It's what sets us apart from the rest of the universe, except from the sex and food part.
[Jack watches her as she walk over to the coffee maker, and once she returns he offers her a smile.] Thanks. And, how about you? I mean, how do you take your coffee?
Cream and two sugars - sometimes three if I'm not awake enough yet. [She says, sipping at her own mug.] Look at enough paperwork, you start to nod off.
Sometimes three? [He playfully teases, and he reaches for the mug infront of him to take a sip of coffee. It isn't what Ianto used to make, but he isn't that picky when it comes to food.] I know a thing or two about paperwork, and there's other things to do besides drinking coffee to make it enjoyable. [He places the mug off to the side of the desk, and he hasn't touched a anything resembling paperwork since the previous fall.
I'd love to hear suggestions. [Joelle replies with a mirthful smile. She's still new, and still downshifting from her old career into this desk job of hers. She settles into a chair.] I can't complain too much. It's also nice to have something low-stress and stable.
The magazines in the breakroom are filled with ideas. [Jack was new himself, the job was simply a cover to allow him to investigate some disappearances. He holds the mug in his hand still, and he arches an eyebrow. Fttf. ] I find low-stress somethings to be really boring.
Not me. [That makes her laugh.] Compared to my last job this is like a vacation. Just without scenery. [She's sorting paperwork on her desk.] I'm Joelle.
Well they have things that are like coffee on other planets. Everyone has their little vices don't they? The sex and food part is more or less a staple for the entirety of the universe though, that much is true.
[That gets a raise of an eyebrow from Jack, and of course the last time these two met with one another it was at bar. He holds a finger up in the air. ] You didn't just say they grow coffee on other planets, did you?
I miss my old job, and I miss the scenery that came with it. [Jack has left his paperwork just pile-up, and it will likely result in one pissed off manager.] It's a pleasure, Joelle. And I'm James.
[He smiles and leans in for a hug. After all it's been quite a while and he didn't have much time to say hello last time. Not properly anyway. When he pulls away he looks insulted.]
[Jack throws his arms around The Doctor, a kiss comes with the package. It has been too long, and Jack did indeed worry for his old friend and mentor. He uses his hands to shape-up, The Doctor.] Compared to the last two regenerations, you look like you're, twelve!
