It's not so bad. I visited and got to churn butter. The suburbs looked nice.

I was looking for my dad. I stopped in an Amish community and they taught me to churn butter. It was neat. I hadn't been back in Ohio since I was five.

So then where do you live now?

New York City. But I've been all over.

I was born in New York. We lived there for seven years before moving to San Francisco. And I was there until two weeks ago.

It does seem a bit odd you went to Ohio then. Is it because it's more 'wholesome'? Couldn't you stay there yourself if you preferred it?

My Dads are in Ohio. Daddy's actually a Senator. And I did stay in San Francisco, right up until I got myself kicked out.

A Senator? ...I met a gay Senator not long ago. I wonder if it was him. He seemed remarkably normal for a politician. Most of them are pig fuckers.

How'd you get kicked out?

I don't know if I'd ever call Daddy normal...

Skipped class, showed up to an exam hungover, the usual.

I wouldn't know about any of that. I never went to school.

I'm sorry. I'm glad I managed to avoid that for my girls; it always seems much worse the further along you are in school, just to pick up and move like that.

Tell me about it. Though leaving school wasn't really my choice. I thought maybe it would have landed me in Switzerland or France, though...not here in Ohio.

That's what you would have preferred, going abroad?

Mmmhmmm. I had my heart set on France.

My youngest keeps saying she wants to go to school in France. We'll see how that pans out when she's older. But why Ohio, if I might ask?

They both went to school there for a bit and Daddy is actually now the Senator of Ohio.

Your daughter would love France. I do. My grandparents still live there.

Well, that would give you good reason to live in Ohio. Doesn't mean something like France isn't still an option though, right?

She's visited France a few times before with her mother and she's quite taken with it. Perhaps she can spend some of her secondary school time there.

It seems to be off the table for now. But hopefully not forever.
