[He was surprised by her appearing.] I probably have.

Her grandpa would love to see her too.

I'm looking into it, looking at a few places later.

It's safe for you now...to stay?

[Kim was hesitant to get her hopes up until she knew for sure he wouldn't be leaving again.]

Yeah it is Sweetheart.

[She moved closer and finally allowed herself to hug him.]

I've missed you. Teri's missed you.

[He hugged her tight. He smiled for the first time in awhile.]

I've missed both of you too.

[It felt good to hug him again and she kept her arms around him a moment longer.]

Why don't you come home with me?

[He smiled more and kissed the top of her head.]

I can do that until I get my own place.

Teri would like that. [She paused a moment.] So would I.

Then I'll come right over.

Okay, let's go.

Did you just get back into town today?

Yes I did actually. It's good to see you, and I bet Teri is getting big. [he picked up his duffel bag and tossed it over his shoulder.]

She is. She's four now and in pre-school.

Bet she's beautiful.

[Kim pulled out a picture of Teri and handed it to him.]

That's her preschool picture. It was taken back in September.

[takes it and smiles] beautiful just like her mother.

Thank you, dad. You can keep that one.

She still asks when you're coming home. She doesn't really understand how long it's been.

She's going to be so surprised when I come walking in.

Are you prepared to have a little girl clinging to you the rest of the day after she gets home?

Absolutely.

[She smiled, anxious to see the look on Teri's face to see her grandpa.]
