My father has this enchanted duster and he went though this whole process of arranging these ancient symbols of protection on it and using magic ink on them and I thought why couldn't it work on my skin.
So its something I've researched as a kid and spent a lot of years figuring out, but a few months ago I had the tattooist actually ink me up. It took hours and it was wicked painful, because he used a bamboo needle. 26 symbols in all.
Pffft. You put a lot of thought in yours I see. *tilts her head* 26 symbols. And a bamboo needle. *is amused, but then a metamorphmagus is unfair that way*
*laughs at the last bit* That I can well believe.
How've you been doing? Besides tatoos and trying for the bad boy thing? (Why are you going for that anyway? Just be yourself, I say...)
Well if it works, it should be like instant protection against lesser spells and hexes and stuff. Hopefully I wont have to find out for a while if it did the job ... and besides, there cool looking.
I'm doing pretty good. I'm trying to get my Dad to apprentice me for a year or two before he retires, so I can learn his style of magic too. At the moment, I'm working with him in his office in midtown. I work with him sometimes, but mostly we split the cases and he takes all the tough ones. He seems to think it will only be a matter of time before I get drafted into wardenhood by the white council ...
I'm still trying to figure out what I'm gonna do for the long term. I know I love Chicago and I'm thinking of taking over Dad's business, but it kills me to be this far away from Lily and I don't she'd be keen about moving to the states. She just got an apartment in Diagon Alley and she said "its the farthest I can or would want to move from my family". So, I've been thinking about jobs in the UK too.
I dunno Tonks. When I was a kid it seem like graduation was the finish line, but really its more like the beginning of being a grown up and I feel kind of ... lost.
Well I was just thinking I'd apparate somewhere where the drinking age was 18 or 19 ... Canada or somewhere in Europe. I could make an aging potion, but why go through all the trouble.
Besides, potion making has never been a forte of mine ... and to buy one would waste money I could save for beer.
Well, I was hoping Lily would come with me ... but I don't know what she has going on. I can sort of get away with things she couldn't on account of her having a real boss at her job.
... except ... don't tell Harry I think he's a pushover. I wouldnt want him to all of a sudden start cracking the whip just because he can.
It has been. We've been separated for most of the summer with you traveling and me working with Dad. I've had some serious Lily withdrawal.
I'm thinking somewhere by your house then so I have a place to crash afterwards. Apparating all the way back home while drunk sounds like a recipe for splinching.

Rather an expert at it, actually.
