I might come back, but the people I have put in harm’s way aren't the same. They're either dead, or they want nothing to do with me. The Earth continues to spin without them, but like you said, I do I continue to subject myself to constant loss. Keeping Torchwood buried, and myself at a distance is the best I can do.
