"Um, okay, look up! I have something to show you. It's amazing and impossible and wonderful but you have to look up to see it." She had no idea what she was going to show him, but it had to be a quick distraction.

"Look, it's clockwork" she explained, pulling a metal butterfly from her pocket "I wind it up, and- okay, most of the time, it can fly. I know butterflies are girly, but I don't have the guy on a unicycle with me. That's the other one I made."
