For specifics on interviewing for oral history. I have this....plan.

My publisher brought it up, a friend thought it could work, another made me think more about it..... Don't know if it will pan out into a book, but it might.

Sounds intriguing. *grins* I'm sure you'll find some way to make it work.

Thanks. *shrugs* Got to thinking I have tons and tons of notes on interviews that I might have used a sentence from. Seems silly not to use them for something else.

The idea, at the moment, is to write up oral histories, then pair them with a story I got from them. *sounds very tentative* We talked about it some?

*thinks back* Yeah, I think we might have, a little. Sounds like a good idea, and it does seem like a waste not to use them since you have them anyway.

I just have to get some idea of what I'm doing, you know? It's a different mindset.

*smiles* If anyone can pull it off, it would be you.

*soft* That's an awful lot of faith you have in me.

Hasn't been misplaced yet. Besides, writers are supposed to have an ego. You don't so someone has to be egotistical on your behalf. *teases*

*laughs* Yeah, that too. Haven't worn it yet. I'm saving it for a special occasion.

*shakes head* That stuff shouldn't be saved. It should be enjoyed. *smiles very faintly in memory*

*sighs, still shaking her head because they've discussed this* Not just for saved up special events. Things like that are meant to be discovered on perfectly normal days, when nothing else is going on.

*shrugs* There's always the next time he stays over.

So other than this possible book idea, anything else going on?

You could say that. Trying to get straight in my head what I can expect, what I can't. And that's just on my side--what I give. I have NO idea where to start on him.

Well, it's supposed to be all about the risk, right? Some days I think that's such bull. Then I look at what I risked and what I got and... *shrugs* I don't know, maybe it's not. Not everyone sees it that way, though, I guess.

*frowns* You said he's a widower, right? Maybe he doesn't want to risk his feelings again? Or do you think it's something else?

He doesn't want to see me hurt by his schedule anymore than I want someone hurt by mine, that's a lot of it. *shrugs* I'm sure he's still adjusting to the idea of seeing someone at all, too.

*laughs softly* And then, there's the part where he is just the most old fashioned, uptight SOB I've ever met.

I have some personal experience with the scheduling thing. Gets a little crazy sometimes, but we're managing. And yeah, I'd imagine it would be a pretty big step to get back into the game after being on the bench for so long.
