You're the one that's making it difficult, love. [He's seated at the kitchen table in their flat, a calendar spread out before him and a stack of travel brochures fanned out next to it.]I'm just trying to plan a vacation here. Now, pick a week and stick to it. [He's hold a pen between his fingers, and he taps the end of it against the center of the calendar.]
But you're not making it any easier, are you? This is a matter of interagency cooperation, Mr. Holmes. We've asked nicely and you haven't been forthcoming. This isn't just another notch on your belt, these are lives at stake. Let us do our jobs.
I'm not intentionally trying to make it difficult. *Vacations are just hard. He wants to go somewhere with just the two of them, but he knows he's making it far too complicated.* You know that it's hard to stick to a week. I don't exactly have control over when the work comes in. *Harry is understanding too and short of a national emergency, he gets his people out for rests occasionally* What about July?
[sound of derision through his nose] Your jobs...you're all being led around by the nose. [He knew there was a mole and he was not going to let any information get that far without ferretting them out first.] Least of which was dragging me in here to "talk". You should be letting me do your job.
If I had more time to get what I need, then we could play games. As it is, you're stuck with only me and I will make this a problem for you if you don't help me. Know that it doesn't have to be that way. You could just tell me and we'll avoid any unpleasantness.
Yeah, that's real generous of you and all, but I'm gonna have to decline that 'gracious offer'. All you've got on me now is circumstantial and it's gonna stay that way.
[Kyle smiles, feeling a little more optimistic. They finally had a month! After over an hour of debating when would be a good time.]
Okay, July, good. That's a start.
[He flips to the appropriate page on the calendar and inspects the rows of weeks.] Okay, so, middle of the month or beginning? I mean, it's pretty much hot no matter what time of the month we go, so that's just a matter of preference. End of the month? It'll give us something to look forward to.
Listen, kid. *He unfolds his arms, leaning on the table with both hands to look at him* You're making the mistake of assuming I'm a police officer. I'm not. So what evidence I have against you is irrelevant. If you know what's best for you, you're going to start talking now.
[That leaves him at a loss for words for a moment. The cocky smirk disappears and he stares up at the man looming over him.] If you're not a cop, what are you even doing here? Are you with the FBI or something?
[It's on the tip of his tongue to make a joke about "not Russia," but he hesitates, not sure if it's a good thing to joke about just yet.] An island somewhere? Bali, maybe. Or the Philippines.
*It might have gotten a weak smile out of Lucas, but no. Perhaps it is too soon. Someday, he'll be able to joke about it. And in another time, he might have offered to take Kyle to Russia.*
The Philippines perhaps? I think that sounds good, we could find somewhere there.
[Kyle thinks that, in another time, he might've enjoying going to Russia, but now, that's not even an option.
He smiles, pleased that Lucas chose the Philippines.]
The Philippines sound perfect to me. I'll call the travel agent first thing in the morning and start looking at vacation packages. You will talk to Henry.
[He takes Lucas' hand in his, bringing it up to his mouth so he can kiss Lucas' fingers.]
[Kyle hadn't really considered that, the possibility that Lucas might just want to stay home. He's almost tempted to suggest they go somewhere in the countryside instead, but he does think Lucas needs a break from the spy world. It'd be much harder to call him into work if he's half a world away.]

No. I work for British security services and right now no rules apply to you while British lives are at stake. Do you understand now?

If I don't have any rights now, what reason have I got to believe I'll get them later?

I honestly feel like I've just come back from a holiday, and not a very good one at that. I think I'd rather stay home. But you may be right.

It'll be fun, Lucas. I promise.
