"D'you have a moment to talk?"

"Do I have a choice in the matter?"

Andrew tended to talk whether Julien was interested in hearing what he had to say or not.

"You've always a choice, Julien." comes the mild response.

Though the expression on his face indicated that he didn't think it wise the other man choose otherwise.

"Oh, yes, of course. How silly of me." He doesn't believe your bullshit, Andrew.

"Well?"

"I couldn't help but notice that you and my cousin have been spending more time together, of late."

Better start at a fairly careful spot, if he's going to cut to the chase.

"You say that like it's a bad thing. I thought you'd be glad for me to become more of a team player."

No, he will never ever stop with the needling. Ever.

He is needled, and he is fairly certain that there's only one particular person on this team that he's playing.

Then, more directly to Julien and with a smile calmer than it feels, "I'm not saying it's a bad thing, necessarily."

Except maybe he is.

"It's just a rather interesting turn of events." Which he doesn't approve of. At least not in the way that he's suspected the events to have turned.

"Just how interested do you plan on being?"

Probably asking him if he likes to watch is pushing it too far, too soon. Even if the reaction would be quite entertaining.

It may even actually get him punched, if ever he asked. Which would be a first, for Andrew.

"She's not fragile." Julien wouldn't believe him if he said as much. Andrew wouldn't believe himself, "But if you hurt her, Julien, know that the results won't be pretty, either by her hand or mine."

"Oh," he says, raising his chin a little. "I see. This is that speech. "You don't think she's capable of taking care of herself?"

Because you are here, giving him this speech. "Maybe you should be looking to the other lady in this merry band of vigilantes, hmm?"

Come on, Andrew, you know you want to try to punch him.

"Argine can take care of herself," Andrew says with a slight scowl, because even though she can, if ever it came down to her needing help, Edgar'd be there for her. Which aches a little.

"As can Rachel. I'm just saying that if she does end up needing someone to help her out in taking care of herself because of something you did, you'll have the both of us to answer to."

It's his cousin-ly duty, after all.

"Right. Because I am the villain here. Of course." Just because he prefers different methods....he's at least been kind of enough to keep them out of your direct sight, Andrew.

"I forgot you'd much rather be a foursome."

His jaw tightens a little, but he doesn't give Julien the satisfaction of otherwise letting him see he's getting to him.

"Just treat her right, Julien," he says at last, before taking a breath and adding in a calmer voice, "Please."

She's been through enough.

"Define right for me. I believe our respective thoughts on the matter likely differ. I'd hate to overstep bounds you thought implicit."

Because that would be your fault for not clarifying, Andrew. Not his for doing it.
