She shakes her head just slightly, leaning in a little more into his hold.

"I'd just gotten used to being back-- where we're from. We didn't expect to come back, you see. And I thought that maybe-- we'd not get to stay."

"...is it all right?" It's a question that nags him, after all, when he finds himself missing Peter or Edmund or Lucy. "That... you didn't all get to?"

Her smile's a sad one as she rests her head more properly on his shoulder.

"Sometimes. I miss them, after all. But-- Ed and Lu'll be back someday. Maybe we'll get to see them. And Peter and I... We parted well."

There's still a soft sigh of longing at the thought of her siblings, though, "And besides. Who knows what Aslan has planned."

And that's important to you?

His arm settles closer around her, his nose pressing comfortably against her temple to feel her heartbeat more properly.

"None of us, I suppose."

How can they know the Lion's will?

It would... ease a burden of history, I think.

Oh? Why's that?

"So maybe he'll do something that will explain why they had to go."

She's certain-- or she tries to be-- that he has a reason for it.

[adexuate]

[It takes a moment for him to respond, attention dropping briefly.] Narnia was taken by sea before. I'd-- see that she won't be again.

"Perhaps."

And until then--and beyond then--she would have, at least, these arms to hold her safe from the uncertainty, as best as he could.
