"You're hurt. That's not nothing." Quint's trying to get a better look at the injury to see if he needs to dig his first aid kit out of his backpack. That would be difficult without revealing the other contents, but his tendency to try to help almost everyone is mostly overriding his caution for the moment.
"Trust me kid, I've had worse." Charisa replies as a small hiss of pain leaves her lips. Shifting a bit to sit down, she keeps her right arm stretched across her body trying not to jostle her shoulder.
He almost says that he has, too, and that's no excuse. But he catches himself, knowing that would be something that would get unwelcome suspicion coming from someone who looks ten years old at the most.
"I think I can pop it back, but it'll hurt when I do..."
Her brow furrows slightly, she should have known the joke would have sailed right over his head. "It was a joke," she said softly before nodding. "I'm Charisa."
Hazel eyes glanced past the kid to look around, seemed they were in the middle of nowhere at the moment. "No...I've got a cell in my pocket I can call somebody."
Certainly an odd place for a kid to be alone. Possibly one of the worst, as far as his assignment went, for a general arrival location. He'd have to make note of that set of coordinates and get better ones if he ever tried this jump again.
"It's nice to meet you, Charisa," he says, almost without thinking about it. He's a little embarrassed a half-second later. "Um, I mean, except for the circumstances..." This also helps cover the half-second or so it takes him to remember that 'cell' would mean an antique - from his perspective - portable communication device.
Which is exactly what she's thinking. Why would a kid be out alone in the middle of nowhere? The question lingered on the tip of her tongue but, the pain that ran through her shoulder had her attention more so than the kid.
"Yeah I got that," she states and stretches out her left leg in front of her. Taking in a deep breath she bites down on her lower lip while letting her arm go for a moment so she can dig her left hand into her pocket for her phone.
"I think I have some pain relief medicine in my first aid kit," he offers, pulling off his backpack to try to look through it as carefully as possible. He's wishing now he'd thought to sew on an extra outside pouch for the kit. Murphey's Law of Backpacks surely meant that by now it had settled to a location under everything else.
After a bit of pawing at her pocket, she's finally able to get her fingers onto the cell and slides it out. "It'd be a nice welcome if you did," she replies with a grunt while moving to hold her right elbow again.
Hopefully, her cell would get service here in the middle of nowhere. "I'm going to need you to use my phone."
[She found no need to lie to the woman, since she could easily tell Charisa was in pain. Wincing at a slight pull in her shoulder she moves to cradle her elbow instead, while gently pulling her right arm over her body a bit.]
He'd been right about the location of the kit. Luckily, he manages to wriggle it out without knocking anything suspicious out of the backpack. He looks up from opening it when she speaks, retrieving the painkillers and handing them to her as he nods and reaches for the phone.
The kit, left lying open, is small but rather well equipped for something carried by a kid, with tiny containers of everything from painkiller and a few bandaids to snakebite anti-venom and stuff for emergency tourniquets... as well as a few items probably unidentifiable.
Once he hands the painkillers over to her, she is more than happy and evening smiling as she pushes on the front of the small package to pop the two capsules out and onto her thigh. Flicking the package to the side she picks them up and takes the dry.
"In my contacts, find Face," she instructs while looking over to the kit that is left lying open. "You sure do have a lot of emergency items packed up."
[The teenager grinned, now this she was good at. Sorry ahead of time, friend. The young vampire asked no more questions as she took the woman's shoulder and relocated the joint back into place with practiced ease.]
[She trails off quickly as the young woman takes up her shoulder, the pain is quick and throbbing but eases seconds after the shoulder is relocated into it's joint.]
Quint nods, soon figuring out how the device works and scrolling through the contacts to the right one. He doesn't even think to question the name being unusual.
"I like to help out, and so I kept asking questions until people would teach me how to do things, and then started keeping a kit with me." That was the start of it, and a much safer answer than mentioning being a field medic in World War 4.
Having found the right contact, he presses a button to call them.
[Ara chuckles, quickly letting go of the woman's shoulder after it was over so it didn't pop out of place again.]
Your welcome, it is sort of fun surprising people anyways. You might want some painkillers when the soreness kicks in. [Poor humans, you break really easy sometimes.]
The pain medication thankfully, is rather quick to kick in and just leaves a dull throb radiating through her shoulder while she sat there with the kid. As he spoke she let her eyes lift off the kit and rest on him.
"And your parents just let you wander around wherever?" Charisa asks while raising a quizzical brow. She found it hard to believe that parents would allow their child to do such a thing, then again parents also 'left' their children in extremely hot cars and well nothing should really surprise her.
The phone continued to ring, until going to voicemail.
Quint frowns slightly at the voicemail, but will leave a message. "Um, hello. I'm here with your friend Charisa. She's injured. It isn't very serious, but she asked me to call you for help. We're at these coordinates." And he'll recite the latitude and longitude. He knows those from his teleport here.
Oh dear, the parents question. How to handle that one without directly lying. Quint does try not to actually lie, as he's not very good at it. "Well, my father died some time ago. My older brothers don't mind as long as I'm careful, and I'm good at taking care of myself. We all sort of look after each other."
She curses softly to herself upon hearing Quint leave a message for Face, which meant odds were slim she'd be hearing back from him anytime soon. Using her free hand she placed it on the pavement and pushed herself up to stand fully.
"So your older brothers don't mind you walking until your god knows how far away from home?" Charisa doesn't seem to buy it but, then again she doesn't push the topic either.
You should learn how, it is useful when you are alone. You can use a stationary surface to help push it back into place. [She looked as if she had a rough day or evening or something.]
