Laurel entered the bar, she took off her coat, looking around and then she kind of smiled at the man she was here to meet. This was going to be awkward, she knew it, but it wasn't often Merlyn called to see the woman who was dating his son to come out for a drink, Laurel wasn't even sure why she accepted and told Tommy she had work to do, another lie that added on the pile she's told in the months, it was getting out of hand.
Re: I'm not stalking you I swear - just want to play.
Malcolm spots her and stands not waving or making any noise just letting
her know he's here, before sitting back down. He just wants to talk, to get
to know the woman who seems to have turned his son's head.
She nodded her head when she saw him and offered a smile as she moved to
sit next time him. "Good evening, Mr. Merlyn," her hand extended for a
brief handshake, you could tell Laurel was use to being polite to people
since it was part of her job. "How are you?" she asked sweetly since she
honestly didn't know much about how he was since Tommy barely spoke of him.
Malcolm smiles slightly as he shakes Laurel's hand. "I'm well thank you,"
he says his tone dry but calm. "Thank you for meeting with me I'm sure my
son has not made me sound like the nicest person in the world."
"He doesn't say much about you, just like when we were children," she pointed out softly. "But I am to assume this is why you've asked me here, to talk about him or...?" she was hoping it dealt with that and not her work.
"Somewhat yes," Malcolm admits, "I also wanted to get to know you again.
Since Oliver's return I realized I don't know any of you as well as I used
to."
"We have grown a lot since we were teenagers," Laurel admitted, she was no longer the party girl that was still making good grade. She got her act together and turned to the law and school to be a better person, mainly to hide from her problems in life. "Tommy is doing really good," she offered, "I'm proud of him."
"I know he might not think so, but I'm proud of him too, he and Oliver have
started to turn around that section of town and it shows," he says hopeful
that maybe just maybe his plan won't be needed.
"I was leery about it, but the club is very successful and there hasn't
been any issues that I'm aware of there." She smiled, "plus the other
business get a boost with having some many people coming in and out of
there."
Malcolm nods. "I was thinking perhaps of opening a club there myself
something for the older patrons so that they could keep an eye on the teens
without seeming pushy."
"That's a good idea," she said with a nod of her head, "but the boys have
managed to think of about everything, most likely cause they did it all
when we were growing up."
She chuckled softly, "I know..." she shook her head, Laurel had to make the
parent phone call more then once when they were all out together.
"At least they have grown out of it?" she asked jokingly.
"Oh I know," Laurel remarked, chuckling softly, "I was in the mix some of
the time," unless she let them go off on their own, trusting them blindly,
if Laurel only knew then what she knew now, this would have ended
differently.
I'm not stalking you I swear - just want to play.

Malcolm chuckles. "I'm sure they did," he says, "the number of times Moria and I had to bail them out together most likely run into the hundreds."

A mock sigh. "I'm hoping so but you know what happens when those two get together."

"I am glad my car collection seems to be safe for the moment," Malcolm says with another laugh, "I was tried of replacing it."

Malcolm looks happy at having made her smile. "A very good thing, though they did try to cover up a few scrapes."
no subject
"They did try," she shook her head "and failed a lot of the time."

He laughs. "More often then they would think. Sometimes Robert, Moria and I let them think they got away with something until they confessed."

"Yes it happened much more when they were younger but after you came into the picture all that flew out the window."

"They needed to learn on their own really....and it seems like Oliver is finally doing that."

She blushed slightly and nodded her head "yeah, he is, Tommy is as well though," she added, 'they've both done well."

"I'm very proud of the work Tommy has done, though I still wish he had joined the company."

She nodded her head, but Laurel couldn't see him in the Company, never his style. "You should tell him that, the first part at least."
no subject
"He hasn't been willing to listen," Malcolm admits.

"You can't," Malcolm says honestly, "you just have to let him be and he'll come back."

"A family trait then?" she asked jokingly of course.

"I think so," he says with a laugh.

She smiled at him, shaking her head, "Yeah..."
