Physical ones less than mental, but yes.

Do you think? Physical scars are reminders of mistakes you won't make again.

Ha! Perhaps, señor. Scars give a man character, at least.

I'd be interested in knowing your thought process.

But mental ones shape the soul.

A man with a good scar shows more character than one without. It is telling, to a point. They show you have lived in the world, not in a hole.

Or that we're fucking dumb enough to keep getting injured.
You got lots?

I prefer to say that I keep myself challenged.
I have my fair share. And you, señor?

Sometimes, yes. But not always.
And the physical means nothing with out the mental, by definition. Only the mind can assign meaning.

That too.
Less than I should, considering. I've had extremely good doctors. Which one hurt most?

Serrated blade to the gut, or the poisoned arrow to the shoulder. [He waves a hand.] They both hurt a little. What about yourself?

That sounds pretty awful.
Uhm. Being put through a floor, I guess. I broke pretty much everything. Oh! Oh! Or ripping imbedded nanotech out of every inch of skin.

Yes, but the physical ones still make a man what he is.

These things are much harder to recover from, señor. We both like to be challenged, it seems.

You think a man with a severed arm does not change him? It is physical, but it shapes him.

That's a bit more than just a scar.

That's what it becomes. There are many wounds which become just scars, but they are part of what makes that man who he is.

Very, very interesting indeed. Why would someone imbed nanotech in your skin?

Uhm. That was sort of... a dumb mistake on my part... it was, uh. Kind of a sentient hive lifeform...
You know. Shit happens.
