Quint has already mentally labeled this trip with a big glowing neon 'do not revisit this timestream'. And now the first squishy that didn't seem to be a zombie wanted to shoot him. He decides to try to handle this carefully - unlike some of his siblings, he considered violence something to be used when other methods failed.

So he steps slowly out of cover, keeping his hands up and trying to make sure his backpack doesn't fall off. "I'm not a zombie."

He isn't exactly human, either, but the android boy is not about to bring that up right now.
