Amazons do not raise male children.

Why is that?

Because we are a tribe of female warriors. Men do not belong to our ranks, and we have as little to do as we can manage with men.

What happens to the male children?

We leave them outside villages where they will be cared for.

Does anyone wait to make sure they are taken in?

Yes. Usually, the father will take the kid without any question. But this is a different situation...

How so?

The mother is dead, and the father is weeks' travels away.

Will the child be taken to the father or will other arrangements be made?

Other arrangements will have to be made. What they are.. I don't know yet.

It is a shame.

It's the Amazon way.

You are lucky to be able to have children. The few children born to my people are lucky to survive their first year.

I am sorry to hear that.

I've never had children myself, but I do care for the children of my people.

Every child born to my people is precious but slowly our numbers dwindle. The surviving children tend to be male and more of our kind seek the sun instead of turning.
