{Carolyn had been on a run having missed her run on the full moon. Things had gotten really, really busy. The house having gone on fire, and losing everything. Then trying to find a new place where Josette and Barnabas could live comfortably with the rest of the family.
There was also the fact that they had thought David might have lost his mother for the second time. Though, once they got settled into a new, smaller house? She actually managed to show up on the full moon. Thus why she was so busy. It had been a long few weeks since she had seen Roddy and she really missed him. So, she called him to find out where he might be this afternoon, and when he said it was the park? Carolyn decided to run over there to meet him. She was wearing a pair of short black shorts, a white top and her long hair up in a high ponytail, she was a bit sweaty, which she hoped he didn't mind?
When she got there? He was sharing his food with something that she couldn't see just yet? She slowed her run to a jog, then a brisk walk until she was close enough to see that it was a rat. It made Carolyn smile for some reason.}
Hey, [he said, smiling up at her.] Mostly slacking off the last few weeks. Lounging around. Still practice the violin, of course, but I never stop doing that. What about you?
[He, of course, didn't know about any of the stuff that had been going on with her or how chaotic it had gotten, but the last few weeks were pretty calm. In fact, a lot of things were pretty calm ever since the guys who always started trouble with him at school went to jail. Sure, he was still pretty unpopular, but no one was going out of their way to mess with him, at least.]
[Roddy had been about to ask why she seemed to distant, but his mouth shut when she said not to ask. Not that he thought she was referring to that particular question, he just figured if she didn't want him asking about what she was up to, asking what was wrong would be in the same field of discomfort. Instead he decided to focus on the playing beautifully bit.]
Yeah, he's been enjoying my practicing a bit, too. So...um...hope whatever it is gets better.
{He could ask, she just felt like it was so ludicrous that he would regret doing it. So, she leaned her head heavily on his shoulder. Closing her eyes as she did so. She hopes he doesn't mind her closeness all of a sudden, but she needed someone to lean on. Literally, and figuratively.}
I'm glad...I really am. I missed you, hope that is okay to say? {His next comment gets a heavy sigh, and she nods.} Doesn't look like it will. Not much can be done about it yet.
The bond between man and animal has always fascinated me. [ Castiel said, as he came up from behind Roddy with a bag containing a greasy burger and even greasier fries.
The site of Roddy and the rat had drawn his attention, and he wandered over to join the two. [ ] And it seems that this rat trusts you.
Rats always like me. Although this isn't the first time I've fed this one, either.
[However, the rat seemed a little more wary of Castiel, as it froze and sniffed the air in his direction. Of course, it wasn't running away from him, either, though it seemed far more interested in sticking by Roddy than in going anywhere near this stranger.]
{She wrapped both of her hands around his arm, sliding a bit closer so that she could rest her head more comfortably on his shoulder.
She let out a soft sigh, and went quiet for a few moments. Trying to gather her thoughts.}
Well, this crazy, stalkerish witch who had a very toxic love for my great uncle...who is a vampire, by the by. He came back to help us out when the coffin she buried him in with chains and such got unburied. Not sure if you heard it on the news? But, he killed a slew of construction workers because of his thirst. The witch, well she was the one to curse him--after she did a spell to make his real, true love jump off a cliff near our home...
{She sniffled a bit then, pausing in her speech. Well, because. Because why? Well, she doubted he'd believe that right now? Plus, she cut off what she was saying with it being obvious that she was pausing stuff.}
I heard about the construction workers on the news.
[The rest of it, obviously, wasn't something that would get reported on. He paused for a moment, not sure what to say. It sounded far fetched, sure, but she was a werewolf and he was a reinigen, and most would say that's far fetched. Besides, he had heard witches were real.]
She was the one to curse him? What do you mean?
[He didn't know how vampirism worked, after all, or that it required a curse other than being bitten. At least, that's what the movies said, Roddy didn't know of any real vampires.]
Yeah, well that was my uncle...when he woke up, he was extremely thirsty after 200 years.
{She sighed heavily, playing with the palm of her hand. She looked down as she spoke.} She sold her soul to satan to be a powerful witch. He tried to throw himself off of widow's hill with his true love. Yet, she cursed him to not die like he wanted, he did die though. Became a vampire. {She felt twitchy, upset.} Like she cursed me by setting the werewolf on me in my crib.
[ Castiel cants his head watches the rat. That and he could understand that the rodent wants nothing to do with a stranger. Rats truly are interesting creatures, and Castiel might try to have a friendly discussion with it later.
Maybe the rat will be far more pleasant to deal with than a cat. Cats are such jerks. ]
You have earned the trust of this rat, and I believe there is an expression, you are simply a 'rat person'. That and an offering of junk food doesn't hurt.
Some are, some aren't...like us, I am sure there are different varieties, you know?
{All Carolyn did at that question was make a 'pfft' sound, and shake her head a little no.}
Vampire...it's what's for dinner. {She did turn sideways then, pressing herself into a tight ball, then pressing herself up against his side. She really needed a hug.}
[ He returns the smile, as he goes to step closer to Roddy and he kneels down to get a better look at the rat. ] Do you enjoy the company of the rats? And I know it seems like a strange question.
Well, yeah, of course. I wouldn't spend so much time with them if I didn't.
[The rat looks up, nose twitching, trying to assess the stranger that seems to be trying to get a better look at him, all while sticking close to Roddy.]
Exist, yet. You need to come over for dinner at my house. I wanted to ask you differently, but I guess I'm asking you now? Plus, he can probably smell me on you. We have distinct smells from being what we are, and all.
Right. I mean, I knew about the distinct smells, just didn't know he could smell them. I'd love to have dinner with you, though. When were you thinking?
[He wasn't sure if she meant that day, or some day in the near future, or what, so he figured he'd ask and make sure.]
[ He looks back down to the rat, and he holds his hands up in the air. ] I'm sorry, but I do not have any cheese or any other food in my pockets to give you.
Have you considered taking this particular rat home with you? I'm sure it would appreciate having an abundance of Doritos and warmth at its disposal.
Yeah, I'll probably be taking it back with me, although we already have tons of rats around the trailer. My dad owns a pest control company, but he can't really bear to kill them, so he just lures them into cages and takes them home for a bit, then eventually takes them out to the woods and releases them. Not that they all have to go out to the woods.
Yeah. I don't think my dad's noticed anything yet. He hasn't said anything if he has, but he's a bit busy with work lately. With it cooling down lately, there's more pests running indoors.
[Yeah, talking about pests getting in people's houses was a great subject to bring up. Still, he quickly tried to salvage to conversation, smiling when she kissed him on the cheek.]
Yeah, tomorrow's great. So...uh...your mom, is she human, then?
You haven't told him? He won't be pissed about it, will he? Cause, you know, the differences!
{She didn't seem to care, and smiled softly at him. Kind of liking hearing about his life, even in the smallest of details.}
Cool, man. Very cool! Uh, yeah, mom and dad are both human. Though my dad ran out on us when I was young. The whole house is human, save for Josette and Uncle Barnabas.
I don't think he'd be pissed exactly, more like...paranoid, I guess? He kind of worries about creatures that are more dangerous than us. I mean, his intentions are good, he really just wants to make sure I'm safe.
[He just...might overreact. And interpret more danger in the situation than there actually was.]
It is good to see that your father has enough kindness in his heart not to treat them as vermin. I am positive that he will be rewarded for this simple act of kindness to a creature that has followed humanity wherever it has traveled.
If I had a place to go, I could take this one somewhere safe from harm. [ He finally sits himself down on the curb, his hands resting down at his side. ] But I'm curious, why does your father not have the heart to kill them when so many others do?
[He'd be rewarded? By who, exactly? People didn't care what he did with the rats once he got rid of them, and he doubted God did either. Roddy snorted.] Doubt it. Rats aren't exactly revered creatures.
I can't really tell you. [Roddy reached down and pet the rat absently.] It's kind of a secret, and I barely know you. [And the fact that he turned into a rat-like creature, that his father did, too...well, that was kind of a big thing to share, now, wasn't it?]
Oh. Right, I get it. Um, maybe once we tackle mom? We can tackle your dad? I don't want to make your dad worry or anything. {She said softly, leaning in to kiss a few spots over his cheek. She ended with a kiss close to his mouth, pulling back she looked into his eyes with a sort of nervous, yet excited sort of energy bubbling up within her from being this close to him. Her face is only an inch from his, her eyes are half lidded as she lets out a shaky breath.
Then she speaks, but doesn't move away from where she was currently.} I really like your eyes, Roddy...and your lips--and you. {She lifted her index finger to gently brush against his bottom lip in a slow, sensual manner.}
The followers of Karni Mata would beg to differ. [ It's not as if God has been easy to sit down and have a talk, and the whole skipping town and leaving the kids to tend to things was a bad idea. But Castiel still likes to think God held all of Earth's creatures in high regard, even one as insignificant as a rat.
It is Roddy's mention of having a secret gets a puzzled look from Castiel, and he just curtly nods his head. ] I understand, I have many secrets of my own. But as you said, we barely know another.
Yeah, that sounds like-- [He trailed off when she began kissing him, and his brain shut down, making him lose track of what he was going to say.] --a good-- [Wow, that kiss was really close to his mouth. What was he saying was good again? Everything. Everything was good.] --a good-- [His voice was absent at that point, and he pretty much after that decided to give up on saying whatever it was he'd been going to say because really, it wasn't that important. Kissing was important. Kissing is what he should be focusing on right then. She was only an inch away, and his breathing grew heavier, shakier. Especially as her finger trailed down his lips.]
I really like your...everything, too.
[Okay, so he wasn't sounding quite as together as she did, but it was true. He liked her hair, her eyes, her face, her as a whole and it was hard to break it down, especially when his blood was rushing anywhere but his head at the moment. Then he leaned forward and began kissing her back, just as enthusiastically, on the lips because he was too direct, too impatient to go for anywhere else, and those eyes she liked went black like a rodent's, not that she'd notice. Not that she'd care, and that was the best part of all of this.]
Everything is good...really good. {She said in a soft, yet excited voice. Her own breathing was a bit heavier as she looked his face over. Especially as her finger touched his lower lip. She trembled a little bit, as her finger gently wove a path from his lip, down over his chin to his Adams Apple. That was when she swallowed thickly--right before his lips collided with her own.
Her hands both wrapped around the back of his neck, then slowly moved into his thick, curly hair. Letting her fingertips and her nails gently rake over his scalp as she opened her mouth to him. Pressing the tip of her tongue against his bottom lip, just like her fingertip had done. A second later she pressed her tongue up against his own. Now she was kissing him with hot, open mouth kisses as she let out a soft moan against his tongue.
Carolyn moved up onto her knees then to press her body closer to his own without breaking the kiss up.
She felt her own eyes flash in some unwritten response. Like power or whatever you would call what she was answering to his own animal spirit. She pressed against him harder as she tried to push him back onto the grass. Breaking the kiss for just a moment to speak in a hoarse, hot voice against his mouth.} Lay down...{Her hand pressed against his chest, right over his heart. Feeling his heart beating, listening to it as well as they kissed.}
[Roddy moaned in agreement. Everything was really good. Especially as her nails raked against his scalp, and her tongue pressed against his own, as she pressed against him, making him feel warmer. Hotter. She told him to lay down and he complied, eager to do whatever she wanted in that moment, though he did it slowly, so as to not break up the steady stream of kissing. His heart pounded with excitement. His palms were sweating. He kissed back enthusiastically and...well, didn't actually know what to do next, because they were in a public park, and so they couldn't really do more than that.]
{She pressed him back slowly as they both moved to lay back in the grass. Carolyn wasn't into public displays, but when she and her whole family almost died? She kind of put a bit of a caveat on that kind of thinking.
She really liked Roddy, as a person and even though they were vastly different species, they were also kin to one another in their type of secret. She trusted him, and she really liked him. She just wanted to get lost in him, and their environment for a little while. If things got a bit heavy handed? Well, they could figure that out, together, where their steps should take them next?}
{Her hand smoothed up over his chest, and down his belly as they both laid down. Her lips never broke their seal against his, but she did have to pace herself a bit as she pushed him down. She didn't want to accidently bite him or herself as she got them both settled. Yet, once they were both laying down? Carolyn's kisses became a bit more aggressive, intense. Her mouth moving down over his chin and over his Adam's Apple with hot, open mouth placements of her lips so that she could press her tongue against him as well. Tasting his skin, Carolyn let out a soft groan. He tasted salty, sweet, and something distinctly male as well as other.}
You taste so good, Roddy. {She whispered into his mouth. Doing her best to not actually start grinding against him, because of where they are. Though her hands are almost everywhere on him as they continue to make out.}
[Like female and sweat and something that made his instincts warn him of danger, though that only made all of this that much more exciting. The kisses were aggressive, and it was almost like she was devouring him, only instead of being terrifying, the combination of the sensation and the scent making him feel excited, aroused, and with her hands being everywhere...he felt a stirring in his pants, and he hoped she didn't notice, instead trying to keep her attention focused elsewhere by running his own hands through her hair and kissing her on the mouth vigorously.]
{She hummed against his mouth, her kisses evening out and becoming much more soft, her hands were smoothing up and down over his arms slowly. Slowly they moved up to his shoulders, and slowly her hands moved to his neck and the back of his head.
She slid more on top of him without breaking their kisses, but that is when she kind of pressed against spots lower and she pulled back a bit with a gasp.} Oh--wow. {Because she was feeling the exact same way right then as well. She didn't move back, or away from him though. Speaking close to his mouth.} I feel the same way...{Then she kissed over his cheek to his neck where she kissed over his pulse point. Pressing her face against him as she wrapped her arms around his body to hug him.
She wanted him, and wanted to just feel his presence, his warmth, his strength. She may have been trembling a bit against him.}
She is a Hindi deity who has a temple in India that is famous for the population of rats that live within it's walls. I'm not exactly familiar with the legend of her, as I did not consort with the other deities, but I'm aware of the temple and the kindness her followers show towards the many rats that live there.
[ Castiel may have given Roddy a bit of a hint as to who or what he was, but it didn't really seem to matter. ]
But, what I do know is this. It is common place among many villagers in India to avoid killing the rats that invade their homes. They use live traps very much like your father does, and they take them to be returned back to the wild instead of killing them.
Wow. That actually sounds pretty cool. I think I'd like it there.
[He had the feeling other kids would find him a little less weird there. Well, there'd still be issues, since he didn't speak the language or know the culture, but still, visiting the temple would be fun.]
I have never been to the temple myself, but I have heard about it on television but it seems like a place that you would like. I'm sure your friend here would enjoy being treated with reverence if he were to live there.
[ Castiel looks down to the rat, and he goes to extend a finger out to it with a smile. ]
But freedom in the wilderness here is just as good.
Yeah. He seems perfectly happy out here. Of course, it's not like he has anything to compare it to.
[The rat looked at the finger, and, after a bit of hesitation, it stood up, sniffing at the outstretched finger, likely only as confident as he was because Roddy had been talking to him for so long without any concerns.]
His family would miss him; rats are far more intelligent than most people give them credit for.
[ Castiel is sure it might be something more, but of course credit is given where credit is due. ]
It is a hard life, but one that I'm sure this rat is content with its life gathering up garbage from a dumpster, and a warm nest somewhere with the rest of its own that he's familiar with.
