We made that choice long ago; we never wanted to be part of the troubles on Gallifrey. We even had a choice to make sure the Daleks never came to be, but we didn't do it.
There's other ways to help the universe, but I'm not a soldier. I never was and never will be.
[ I was very happy about the Big Finish companions being listed in that episode. Very, very, very happy. ]
[ The Doctor shakes his head. ] No. I'm sure, things will be just fine, they're always fine.
ooc: The second part of Dark Eyes comes out in February, so I'm interested to see how things play out there. So far, Eight's reluctance to be involved makes sense to me.
Of course there was. We could have done what the Time Lords asked of us, and there never would have been a threat of the Daleks. But if we got rid of them, all the good that came of their existence never would have...
[ The Doctor takes in a very deep breath, the scars from everything they've done up to this point are still there. ] ... Happened.
A war between my people and the Daleks. I have told the council that I wanted nothing to do with it. [ The Doctor's opinion on the Time Lords hasn't been a good one lately. ]
[ The Doctor smiles, he regrets laughing about the notion of a war between the Daleks and Time Lords. The thought of Gallifrey being destroyed is still questionable, and even laughable. ] I'm sure the Time Lords will figure it all out, they always do.
And I know you've been here for me, to the end, my one constant through the ages. I never forgot when I found you, destine to be sent to the scrap yards.
ooc: I'm interested to see how it plays out. And new release day for some Big Finish stuff. Picked up the Companion Chronicles (I recommend this one) and Monthly.
Your people are this close to advancing beyond anything the Daleks are and they still succumb to these ridiculous biological imperatives to establish territory or whatever it is primates battle over.
[ The Doctor is about to respond, and he can't help but to laugh at being called a primate. ] Primate? I can assure you, I'm not a monkey's uncle.
Establishing a territory is something that isn't just limited to primitive life forms. If this were the case, there would be no war and I'd be left out of affairs to meddle in.
Well, I suppose I came off a bit harsh. But I expect better of Time Lords. Humans still have so far to go, but really? Time Lords are almost on the verge of approaching near-equal status with the Continuum.
I won't denounce the good ones, but I am anything but displeased with a good lot of them. [ He sighs, he knew Romana did a great deal to make great strides to improve things with Gallifrey and the rest of the universe, it was also too late.
With a deep sigh, The Doctor reaches his hand up to ruffle his hair. ] But, this does not mean I wish harm on my own. Maybe if they get through with this, they will wake-up.
As for equal footing? There are plenty of things the Time Lords have kept under lock and key for a reason.
Yes, that's pretty much my plans. I'll help if things get out of hand, but I plan to let them tend to it themselves. [ The Doctor laughs. ] Aaaah, the truth. There's nothing quite like it.
I'll be traveling on my own, been so for a bit now. I like to think it is better this way. I'd like to avoid getting another companion killed, if I end up being summoned back to Gallifrey.
