[Stiles was scarily used to seeing dead bodies, it didn't even phase him anymore. Well, the ones cut in half, he could do without seeing ever, ever again.]
This has to do with what you were talking about before, huh? The animals in the woods not acting right, this is it, isn't it?
Well, I guess we're all screwed then because as much as I love Scott, he's
an idiot about this stuff. Issac is still with you right? Because that
kid really needs a protective big brother type, you know?
Isaac, yes he remains loyal. I can't say the same about Boyd or Erica. they're both a bit of a wildcard. Then we got Peter... who's more than happy to try to lead. I spoke with Deaton about it and he believes that the spark transferred to somebody else. Because that's how the spark of an alpha works. Of an alpha lose it, somebody else gains it. The question is who. It might be Scott but if he really is a true Alpha then that may not be the case as he already got the spark.
I'll try to lead even though it's different to me... I am different as well.
[Silences and hunches down. He tilts his head and listens. Suddenly there's a high-pitches scream of a woman in extreme pain. Without a second to waste Derek takes off, his eyes glowing bright blue.]
[Derek follows the sounds which leads in the same direction as the blood trail. The horrifying thing is that it doesn't stop. There's more screams and awful scrapping noises, loud enough for him to pick up but maybe not so in Stiles case. But once he gets to the scene it's to late. A woman lies in the middle of a strange shape of red dye with her chest burst open. A quick look over tells Derek that she's missing her heart. Although it's hard to tell what else may be missing as her organs lies all over the place. The woman's eyes are wide open in fear and her mouth twisted in a final scream.
While Derek waits for Stiles he walks around the perimeter in order to find any tracks or something to tell him what or who did this. But he's not successful. All he finds is a strong smell of brimstone and an uneasy feeling.]
[Stiles was panting, trying to catch his breath when he finally caught up
to Derek. The screaming had stopped minutes earlier and Stiles was afraid
he'd lose Derek without that scream to follow.
When he did catch up, he saw the body and quickly turned around]
Oh god oh god oh god. Is that...oh please don't be anyone I know.
[Stiles turns to face the body, trying to remain clinical without throwing
up. He did cover his nose with his shirt.]
Dude, did something rip her heart out? That's like dark magic mojo, right?
[Derek had hunched down next to the body. He scraped some of what he had thought was red dye but it was in fact scorched earth. It smelled like burnt grass. When Stiles came he looked up at him with a scowl on his face.]
It's not natural that's for sure. No animal did this. I doubt a human was behind it either. Her chest has been ripped open and not by any tools I know of.
[Derek then stood up and gazed down at the body and then back to Stiles.] If we hadn't chatted away earlier we may have saved her. She doesn't look like anyone I know.
Woah, hang on, are you blaming me for this, because I talked to you? I
choose to look at it that I probably saved both our lives by 'chatting
away'. Look at her! And it smells like sulfer! You know what smells
like sulfer? Demons. Demons smell like sulfer, Derek. Okay, maybe I've
watched too much Supernatural but you get the idea. What makes you think
you could haven taken this thing on in Beta form and no back up? Are you
sure you should even be chasing this thing? Maybe you should, I don't
know, call the Sheriff for a change? Or do you already know what this is?
I still have a digital copy of the Argent's Bestiary if you tell me what
I'm looking for.
[Stiles finally pauses for air, all of his thoughts spewed out at once.]
[Stiles rambling stunned Derek for a second. When Stiles was finished it took a long moment for Derek to proerly form a responce.]
If it is a demon as you believe then what chnace does the sheriff have against it? We can't even walk up to him and tell him that a demon is out there killing people.
No, I don't know what it is but I'm sure that it isn't a physical being. Either that or it's someone whom is damn good at covering their tracks tracks. You could take a look through that Bestiary to see if you can find anything, if you can bother with it.
Yes, saving her might have been too much to hope for but at least we would have a clue what we're dealing with here.
[Pause]
I may not be an Alpha anymore but I'm still a werewolf. Even a bit more than so.
Edited (added and fixed stuff) 2013-12-02 09:36 (UTC)
It's not a bother, geez Derek, I'm trying to help you here if you'll just let me! I'm know I'm just a human meat sack and not much use most of the time, but I guess thought...
[I just thought I might be a little bit pack, is what he didn't say.]
...I thought maybe you could let me help you. It's not like this is all new to me, finding dead bodies in the woods. Hell, I carry a bag of mountain ash in my pocket just in case I need it in an emergency. Even if we're standing in the circle trying to keep something else out. Deaton is teaching me how to make wards, and I'm not great at it yet, but I'm learning. Let me help you.
[With that, Stiles sighs and shakes his head.]
Or just tell me to fuck off already and I'll go away, but you know eventually I'll get OCD and have that need to make sure you're not dead or something and come back. I'm annoying, I know, get used to it okay.
And for the record, I wasn't insulting your werewolfiness, I just meant you aren't the big bad Alpha you used to be and you need to remember that. Don't take on something you could have handled as an Alpha, but now might kill you. That's all I meant. Just...don't die!
[Yes, there was a bit of flailing at the end.]
I don't want to come over one day to find you with your heart ripped out and weird burn marks and shit around your body, alright?
Fine. You're not completly useless and you have saved my life a few times. I wasn't insulting your skill. But you're not a werewolf. If you get in trouble you risk dying and that's something I'd like to avoid happening.
[Derek takes a deep breath.]
I have been a Beta longer than an Alpha. I know my own limits and I didn't consider this too be too much of a challenge.
[Derek steps closer to Stiles.] I appreciate your concern Stiles.
[He then noticed some coloring on Stiles face from where a branch had hit him. He reached out towards it and his eyes started glowing. There was a faint shimmer across Derek's hand as he healed the wound Stiles had gotten.]
[Stile's is nearly bursting with pride. Derek didn't think he was useless. Derek Badass Werewolf Hale finally sees him as something other than a bother. He might be blushing a bit, but he can't help it, he's used to being shot down when it comes to Derek.]
[When Derek reaches for his face, Stiles doesn't even flinch, not until he feels something weird and tingly happening. He reaches up to find blood, but whatever caused it was gone.]
Wow. That's new. I mean, I know you can take away pain and stuff, but this is new, right?
When I lost the spark something shifted within me. I discovered that something strange was happening and with some training I was able to heal people. It's a useless power for a werewolf with our quick healing. No wonder it had fallen into oblivion.
[Derek then retracts his hand and takes a steadying breath. It still drained his energy to do that, even for something that small. It was like in those video games, most of his skill points lied in Strength, Endurance and Health but the ones which he needed, Intelligence, Wisdom and Mana, was lacking.]
So the next time I get beat to a pulp, you can fix it? That's epic!
What's about the body? Should I at least tell my dad there's another body in the woods, or just let someone else find it? I don't like the idea of leaving her here to let the birds peck her eyes out or something. Maybe an anonymous call from a payphone? They still have payphones right?
You know, we really need one of those throwaway cell phones for this kind of stuff.
In theory yes. But I don't know where my limits are.
Hm. [Glances at over at the body] Involving the police may be risky and you should probably not tell your dad about it. He will be suspicous. Let me deal with it.
By take care of it, you mean bury her out in the woods. Does she have any
I.D. on her? I don't know how yet, but if she has a family, they deserve
to know what happened. Don't worry, I'll be discrete, but they should know
she's never coming back.
[He hated to think of something happening to him, and his dad never
knowing, always wondering where he was with no closure.]
Do you realize the consequences of anyone, I mean anyone, knowing? They’ll start asking questions and once they know the truth they'll panic. Before you know it we'll have hunters swarming the area coupled with seers, priests, ghost hunters, CIA, NASA and vampire slayers. People will panic and this will be blow completely out of proportion up to a national crisis level. Do you want that?
Look I don't like this anymore than you do and I had to burry my own sister. You do remember what happened once two nosey teenagers started sneaking about? I got wanted.
It's better to leave it. I don't even think she has an I.D. She's only wearing threads.
You're the boss. Let's get rid of our footprints from around the body, having anything traced back to us would be bad.
[Stile's knew how his father would think, and he did his best to brush away their footprints with some brush, trying to leave it looking as natural as possible as he backed up into the forest with Derek until he felt more secure that their trail was covered.]
Alright, let's go, that's should be good enough for now, but we should take a different path home until we hit a well used trail so our tracks blend in with the others.
3 hours? You must be feeling rough... I got 6 and I'm tired at 5 o' clcok in the afternoon.
[Derek nods and picks the body up. He carries it away to bury it somewhere off site. Since he's missing a shovel he needs to use other means. When he has buried the body he returns to do the same with the left over organs.
When he's finished he returns to Stiles, hiding his tracks in the process.]
Sounds like a good idea. We can't do much about the blood. Hopefully someone will think it's an animal attack.
Felt so rough I lasted 4 hours of work, then went to sleep LOL
[Stiles sighs, nods and rubs his hands on his jeans, trying to clean them.]
I'll see what I can find in the Bestiary, and we'll try and figure out what's going on before anyone else dies. The last thing my dad needs is more unsolved murders and missing people going on, he barely kept his job the last time. Catch up with you later then, compare notes?

Wait, what? What do you mean? They're your Betas, don't they kind of have to listen to you?

I am no longer an Alpha, I lost the spark. So the pack doesn't have to listen to me if they don't want to. I have no command over them anymore.

As long as that spark didn't jump to Peter. Maybe we can, you know, find a way to get it back. Deaton knows a lot but he doesn't know everything.
Shit!
[The scream made Stiles jump out of his shoes, figuratively speaking, then he was chasing after Derek in a hopeless attempt to follow.]
