Knowing him invites an awful lot of wonder. And concern.

I shouldn't try to worry about him, just, oooh he just always got himself into a ton of trouble. [ She smiles just a little. ] But, I think that's something I miss most about him.

You shouldn't.

I see no harm in thinking about old friends you haven't seen in awhile.

If it makes sad, you shouldn't.

Sad? I didn't say a word about being sad. We parted on good terms, and I just wondered what he's doing.

Your eyes looked sad.

He does somehow make chaos look endearing doesn't he? [She chuckles.] I worry about him as well, but I have to trust that he's in someone's good hands.

You won't get any argument from me about that one. [ Martha laughs, and the mood continues to remain upbeat when she nods her head. ] I think he needs to have someone; I'd be more worried about him if someone didn't try to be his voice of reason.

[ Martha sounds curious, as she tilts her head to the side. ] You don’t happen to be the lucky one to keep him from getting into too much trouble.

Not a whole lot you can do about him, if you want my opinion. you've gotta do what's best for you. He can take care of himself.

I've been on my own for sometime now, Jack, but I still have those moments where I reflect on him.

[ She smiles as she points up to the sky. ] Don't know about that one, I think he needs someone to look after him.

[ He chuckles. ]

You're probably right. He wouldn't admit it, though. Too much pride put into that whole "Time Lord" thing.

I think he over estimates himself, but I truly think he needs to have someone. Not so much that he gets himself into trouble, but I just don't think, he does well without company.

[ She sounds concerned, but she knows that she shouldn't worry much about him. ]

I mean before me there was Rose, and he has quite the following from I discovered from the files UNIT has on him.

That's the problem with running all over time and space. You build up quite the fanbase. [ He winks. ]

I'd love to get a peek at that file. Maybe see if you guys have anything that I don't have on him.

All of those people who traveled with him before we even came to meet him, I think he knows he needs someone with him too. I mean he won't ever admit to it, but it is nice that he shares the experience with others.

[ Her voice seems a little bittersweet, but it perks up a bit when Jack brings up that file. ] Oi! I thought Torchwood had kept up with him, and that they had access to his UNIT records.

[ The tone of her voice is teasing. ] Or, are you just looking for an excuse to pay UNIT a visit, Mr. Harkness?

Hey, I just wanna make sure you guys aren't keeping anything from me. We follow him as best as we can, but he seems to like you lot more than he does us.

[ Jack grins and lowers his voice. ]

But I wouldn't mind taking a peek inside. Get to know some of your boys. Maybe take one of them home with me? Love the berets.

He's good at holding grudges, I'll give him that much, but I can also understand how he feels when it comes down to it.

[ She scrunches up her face, and shoots Jack a look before laughing. ]

Hey! I think our boys have gotten a chance to know you first hand!

Tell me about it. [ There's a short, bitter laugh. ] But you should know. You were there.

And in my defence, you've got plenty of boys worth knowing. And if they're busy, I'm sure some of your lovely ladies would be just as exciting to meet. Assuming you haven't got your hands full, first, Dr. Jones.

I didn't exactly forget it, but we both know you did change it to become something better. I mean it isn't perfect, but he can't always be here to help. The human race needs to be able to take care of itself when it stares down the face of danger.

[ Martha places a hand on her hip, and gives Jack a playful yet teasing smile. ]

You're a bit of a legend in the office, Jack. And, if we were to even think of it, the place would be filled with to the brim with gossip. But, something tells me that wouldn't exactly stop you.
