Zach doesn't bother looking up from where he's got his fingers buried in the hole in some unfortunate bastard's thigh, hoping he can find both ends of the artery to pinch off but not sure it'll make much difference at this point even if he does. "I'm trying to keep it from becoming a body, so why don't you call a god damned ambulance while I'm doing that?" he snaps. Jesus christ he hates this, he still isn't great with the stench of blood and fear and adrenaline, but if he doesn't do something the man, whoever the hell he is and whyever the hell he was shot, is going to die.
...Was she hallucinating? That had to be it. But why? Surely she hadn't just seen a dragon. Especially a talking dragon. "Right, yeah...I think I need to get more sleep."
"Wait, he's alive?" Alex was very shocked by that fact. The man looked pretty dead to her. She wasn't close enough to know for sure. Part of her didn't want to call an ambulance. The person trying to save this man, he didn't know the kind of man he was. But he was Alex's best hope at getting the answers she was seeking, so she went ahead and called 911. She just hoped that if they saved this creep, he could tell her what she wanted to know.
The dragon swooped a little closer, wary of her weapon and her panicking. "'aybe, but I ain't a dream or anythin'. I'm Lockheed. Kinda found him like this."
"...But you're a talking dragon." It couldn't be her, she'd been clean for too long. "So...you haven't seen anyone else around here?" Was she out of her mind? There was no way this could be real.
"Yep. An' I promise I ain't gonna hurt yeh, so yeh 'ight wanna put that thing down." Lockheed gestured to the gun in her hand. He glanced about at her question. "No, but I was with my 'riends, we got reports of somethin' weird. Not 'uman. 'aybe alien, 'aybe 'utant."
"Not for long at this rate." It's a frustrated huff, but he has managed to find the artery and, despite the way it tries to slip through his fingers in the mess of blood and mangled flesh, he's got both ends pinched tight together. He takes a moment to make sure what she'll see is all human, if a bloody mess of arterial spray, before finally looking up at her.
"Any idea who the hell shot him and left him to bleed out in the first place?" Not that he doesn't figure they'd have been happy to do a more thorough job of eliminating the guy if Zach hadn't been stupid enough to run towards the sound of gunfire instead of away.
She was going to ignore the alien and mutants part until she could properly process them. "This isn't for you." She said indicating the gun. She wasn't about to shoot a probably imaginary dragon, that'd just make her seem even crazier than she was. "There are dangerous people around here."
"I'm guessing someone who knew I was looking for him." Alex admitted. "He's...a human trafficker, sells girls just like me into slavery." But he was her best lead on finding Amanda and the Shop. She was kind of surprised this guy didn't recognize her. Her story was all over the news. She hoped the ambulance got here soon, but it wasn't likely.
"Good, cause if yeh did I 'ouldn't like yeh as much." The dragon said with a chuckle before he perched on her shoulder carefully. "What sorta 'angerous types yeh talkin' about?"
"Well, the ones I'm looking for are traffickers, among other things." Alex told the little dragon. "This one was supposed to be a lead to some other really bad people. My friends and I, we're trying to stop them."
"What can you do?" Alex asked him. She wasn't sure how a dragon could help. "Besides make them think they're going crazy seeing a dragon." Could he breathe fire? She felt like she was crazy for even considering this.
"'ell I'll 'ust hava dodge 'hem? Bein' small an' fast helps." Lockheed replied with a certain stare. "But yeh, 'hey 'ould hurt, so if I do get shot, yeh can help me, uh?"
Ah fuck. It takes a couple seconds of serious effort for Zach to fight the wolf back down in the face of his own rage at that answer, and he looks away, hoping she misses the flash of gold in his eyes in the darkness of the alley. By the time he's collected himself there might be a couple more minor punctures in the fucker's leg from his claws. He does manage not to do any more serious damage than that, though. Or just let go and let him bleed the hell out. The guy's out cold between the head wound when he fell and blood loss, and his odds of survival aren't looking good at the moment. They'd be marginally better if Zach had his medkit on him, but he doesn't and it's too far away to get.
When he focuses back on her again he's scowling, eyes narrowed as he actually looks at her. He's only caught the news in passing the last week, but the name and face- "Shouldn't the cops be handling that?"
[OOC: Don't actually know diddly about her canon, what should he know?]
"The cops aren't as efficient, and half of them are dirty and look the other way." Alex crossed her arms. "This is a lot bigger than people realize." She didn't know how much she should say about the Shop, she didn't want this guy to end up dead. She wanted to keep it simple. "I'm special envoy to the United Nations, trying to fight the war on human trafficking...they just don't exactly know I'm more Batman than Bruce Wayne." And it needed to stay that way.
[OOC: Basically she's a kick ass super spy type with a really tragic backstory involving human trafficking, so now she is hunting human traffickers to lead her to her canon's big bads. I think I have a link to her wiki on my profile page, if you want to check it out. But she's been on the news, she's a famous Russian heiress that the world thought was dead for about 7 years. And now that she's re-emerged, she's got a whole dual identity thing going on. The public only knows Alexandra Udinov, they don't know Alex/Batman part of it all.]
