[Stiles is carving a protective Rune on the south side of the Hale House, such as it is a house, anyway. He can feel Derek watching him and he just rolls his eyes and focuses on the Rune. He has three other sides of the house to do still. And making them totally out of sight has left him hanging awkwardly over the roof of the house, upside down so he can put in a hidden area.]
[Derek observes Stiles from the tree top. The teenager is in a rather awkward and dangerous position. He does hope he won't fall. He also doesn't understand why Stiles insisted on placing the rune up there. Clearly there much have been less risky places to place runes.]
[Stiles is using something the witch they encountered didn't, common
sense. If nobody can see the Rune, nobody can destroy it. Granted, this
was one of the few places there actually was a roof, but he knew the Rune
would be invisible to anyone on the ground. When he finally finished he
looked over at Derek.]
Can you come steady the ladder for me? I don't need to fall off the ladder
after spending my time upside down hanging from a half roof.
[Derek gave Stiles a look before he jumped down from the tree crown. He landed with ease and made his way over to the ladder. He took a steady hold of it and looked up at Stiles behind.]
Ya think? At the very least make it more livable if it's to become the
safe haven for your pack. Get some food, maybe some furniture, you know,
something more than a mattress on the floor.
[Stiles already knows Derek is scowling at him as he walks toward
the back of the house, and chooses to ignore it.]
[He looks down at the place near the foundation that had a bit of wood
overhang. He wanted to put the next Rune there. He dropped down and laid
down on his back.]
Please no spiders, please no spiders. There's going to be spiders isn't
there?
[Derek followed stiles with a scowl on his face. He was aware that the house wasn't much but that worked for him. After all, he just used it as a place to stay, a place to hide. he watched as Stiles laid down on the ground and reached in.]
It's alright, I'm finding ways to be useful, I feel more content the more I
learn. I know I was being an ass the other night, thanks for forcing me to
bed.
And I'm trying to do my best by you too. By all of you really. Sometimes
with my ADHD I get too focused on something and don't know when to stop.
So yeah, thanks for looking out for me.
If you hadn't gotten your sleep you would most likely have fallen down from that ladder or screw up the rune. I would rather keep you intact than anything else.
Yeah, it wouldn't have been good, you were right. And the more I work on
these, the more I realize that if I hadn't slept, they would be a mess
right now. We're a good balance I think, keeping each other more or less
intact and alive. I know I get bossy sometimes, but I'm used to dealing
with Scott and you know he doesn't do well when he thinks on his own. He
does things like team up with Gerard, but those the wolfsbane pills were
pretty awesome.
I'm bossy by nature, I can't help it so tell me to can it, that's cool.
I'm not saying Scott's an idiot, he just tends to jump into things before
thinking. And since I can't control most impulses, even on my meds, I go
along with him and try and keep us both alive. It's kind of how it works,
but Isaac has kind of taken over that job.
[Stiles face falls just a little, because he misses his best
friend.]
But they are good for each other, especially since Isaac is living there
now. They are figuring out this wolf stuff together I guess, and I'm
trying to figure out how to keep all of you safe.
[He looks at Derek, consideringly.] Would you ever join
Scott's Pack? Isn't being an Omega dangerous?
That has passed me by. Probably because of your lacking impulse control. Once you hit 25 it might get better.
Isaac got a wild side to him. I wouldn't bet my money on that he can keep Scott out of trouble better than you.
[Derek falls silent as he consider the Isaac - Scott situation. He should be there and help them. He got much more experience than either of them.]
It's dangerous to be an Omega. We all know how things went last time. Yes I would join Scott's pack if he asked me. But I won't beg. It's his choice. But if I can help, I'll try.
I don't think he'd even consider that you might want to join him. Is it
alright if I bring it up to him? At least let him know that you're open to
it if he is? We're all stronger together, right? I mean, the Pack is, I'm
just the human who can make carvings, right? Scott considers me Pack, but
like you said, I'm a human, so it's not really Pack. Just a title to make
me feel part of it all.
You're a member of Scott's pack of humans. If he considers you pack then he's free to do it. Even though I would only consider other werewolves pack, but I grew up in a pack of werewolves. Sure we had humans in the family, but personally I don't think pack fits for them. They were family. My mother probably had other ideas of it though, I don't know. I was too young to understand the inner workings of a pack.
Feel free to let Scott know. And yes, we're stronger as a unity rather than individuals. It's true for humans too.
So you'd be okay being in the pack with humans in it? If it makes us all stronger, humans and werewolves, I think that's a good thing. Come on, you know you want to be in a pack with me, admit it. I'm awesome and you can't deny it anymore. Come on, say Stiles you're awesome and can totally kick demon ass. Well, you did that ass kicking, but I banished it! Come on, tell me I'm awesome. [Stiles is grinning widely, his eyes sparkling with humor.]
Oh come ON! Give me something here! I'm going to be a Runemaster one day
you know. Just one little compliment, you can do it, just one. [He tries
the puppy dog eyes this time.] You're starting to like me, just a little
teeny tiny bit. Just admit it grumpy. I'm not as bad as you thought,
right?
I'll take it! And look, you smiled. Things are definitely getting better. You and me, we make a good team, I'm telling you man. You smiled! That almost never happens! I'll totally take it, dude.
I'm not exactly innocent, but thanks, it's nice to know you think of me as more than the annoying kid I used to be. And I know I was annoying, but I've kind of had to grow up over the last couple of years. Thanks for not ripping out my throat years ago.
[Stiles is getting the this particular rune down, so it doesn't take him long before he sliding out from under the house.]
Two more to go. I had a hard time finding somewhere on the east side that wasn't visible, just because of the damage there. Come help me find some place good, I already know where the last one goes. Then, we need to get the Pack to come and put a drop of blood on all of them. My dad too, if that's alright. Our house will be protected, but if he's chasing something in the woods, this might be a closer option.
[Derek nods in response. He's on this plan and he think it's a good one. he then walks around the corner to the west side and starts scanning the area. It's true that there's a lot of damage here. He understands Stiles concern. But maybe they can find somewhere.]
I could maybe do it on the inside, but I don't think it would have the same
effect, it needs to be on the outside of the house. There has to be some
place that isn't as open as the house is here. Totally support the
rebuilding idea by the way.
If we dig some up and replant them, you'll have to remember to take care of
them so they'll take root otherwise they'll die and won't do much hiding.
But yeah, I think that would work, especially if I do it as close to the
foundation as possible. We can put something super prickly in front of it,
something with thorns to keep people away. Ever thought of planting roses?
Hm. I don't know about roses. It may look suspicious. The house is supposedly abandoned. [Derek replies and looks up the wall. There's a sorrow in his voice.] Hm. Briar. That could work.
[Stiles doesn't miss the brief flicker of pain on his face or the crack in his voice. Stiles doesn't say anything, just squeezes Derek's shoulder before crouching down to look at the area, giving Derek a moment.]
Briar would work. Or would could make it really easy. I can put the rune on, and we can just nail a piece of wood over it. It would just look like another patch on the house. Or we can put some kind of patch over it, something that won't look out of place on the house.

It's steady now. Be careful.

Thanks
[Stiles eased his way down the ladder and grinned at Derek when both feet were on the ground.]
Luckily there's a place on the back wall that doesn't require a ladder. You'll all be safe as houses when I'm done. Literally safe as your house.
[He didn't tell Derek about the anti-fire Runes he'd added. He would tell him later.]

OK. Hm, I should try to renovate this place...

Dude, you can hear spiders? Wow, that's...wow. I wish I could have all the perks but still be human.
[He gets out his box cutter and starts in on the wood.]
Not a slam by the way, just wishful thinking on my part. Somebody needs stay human and I'm cool with that.

[He falls silent for a moment at Stiles next statement.]
None taken. I doesn't work that way unfortunately for you.
