[Sitting down to watch and wait]

[In his imaginary fight he’s won about six times already. At his seventh triumph he resets, sword behind shield when he notices her.]

Ah! Señorita. I did not notice you.

[And again he launches into another make believe duel despite the slight breathlessness catching up to him.]

I'm really good at sneaking up on people.

...Are... you winning?

[He smiles and breathes a laugh.] Luckily I am easy to startle.

[After a few swipes he turns and opens his arms.] How could I not be winning? I am the Great Alejo. [Then he spins around as if he was being snuck up on, and starts a new fight.]

Just for the record? This might be the weirdest thing I've seen you do.

[That gets him to stop and lift a sceptical eyebrow.]

This? [He laughs.] This is training, señorita. [And he moves slower, running through some basic moves and stances.] This is not the ‘weirdest’ thing I do.

It's totally weird.

You need a hobby. Like, A normal hobby. like knitting or.. I don't know. Sleeping. Like a normal person.

[He stops again, this time letting his arms drop.] If those are for normal people, I am glad I’m not one. Have you ever lifted a weapon before?

I can barely lift a pencil.

I meant... [He gestures vaguely.] ... before. It is one of the greatest things in life to fight a good fight. There is nothing as thrilling as keeping a sword from your neck.

I am pretty sure I just tore throats out with with my teeth.

[He wrinkles up his nose.] I like to fight like a man, not an animal.

I'm not a man. Never was. Never will be. Don't particularly want to be.

[It's back to smiles as his eyes flick up and down, looking her over.]

I don't blame you. But you will have to trust me. It is the best kind of hobby there is. Practical, fun and stylish.

I don't trust anyone. People have a habit of murdering me if I do.

I'll give you Fun and Practial, maybe. But not so stylish.

Well, some really unlucky ones relive their deaths over and over again. I've never been particularly lucky but. I've got that going for me.

That is fairly lucky. I hope when I die –again– that I have that kind of luck. Maybe not much, but for the right things.

[You’re going to make him pout, Anna.] If you were any other woman I would imagine your answer would be different. [He gestures to himself.] This has gotten me more lovers than my words.

It's one of the few good things I've got. I try not to take it for granted.

[She's a brat. She'd take a pout as a victory!] Mmm. I bet it has. I bet all the boys and girls fall over eachother for a kiss.

It is good to remember that someone else always has it worse.
