Give him a second. Give him a second to pull the tension out of his shoulders because that sounds just a bit like a trap.
"What looks awful?"
Because, from where he's standing with the book in his arms held just a bit like a defensive shield, Rachel looks the way she always looks: stunning and somehow beyond perfect.
And the fact that he's questioning it makes her sound all the more distressed, because clearly if he needs to ask, he's trying to avoid saying so, right?
It's lovely, every now and then, for her to not be the entirely sensible one.
It's much more lovely, however, to reach out and tug her closer. To press a firm kiss to her forehead before leaning back to properly examine her haircut.
"Is adorable. You just need to live with it for a few days."
"How bad am I at lying, Rach." There's an immediate lifting of his shoulders, rolling of his eyes. "At lying to you, I mean."
She knows him too well. She understands him too inside and out. She's not getting tricked by anything at all--least of all a terrible attempt to hide a true opinion of a haircut.
Clearly she needs a light little kiss on the end of her nose to believe it properly. Clearly. Thank goodness she has him.
"Can I touch it?"
Because, in all honesty, he does love running fingers through her hair when it's long. He's fairly certain it'll actually be just as nice to play with while it's short, once he gets the hang of it.
Cheek-kisses are fabulous. Also fabulous is getting his fingers in her hair--getting a sense of what dragging his hands through it will be like now that it's cropped from its usual length.
It's easier to play with, really. It feels soft and pliant and absolutely has him grinning as he bobs his head.
The response comes after only just a moment's pause, one barely of any real significance. Mostly, she's reveling in the feeling of his fingers curled in her hair. It's soothing.

"'m glad you like it, then."
It'll make it easier for her to really properly enjoy it, herself.

It's something to remind her, every now and then. Something he says almost habitually in moments like this.
"Makes you beyond stunning when you do. Always."

"'s easy to smile, with you here."

He's certain Andrew can handled second place.

Because she's not relinquishing first place, even for Andrew.
